We were given what the lady at the reception said was "my best room" and it did not disappoint, it was at the top of the building and was indeed HUGH. nice clean bathroom. a close to the street so you do hear the cars but that did not bother us. A nice self service breakfast, friendly staff and good location

Room Tip: the family room at the top of the building, mind you last floor has no elevator

Check in went smoothly, in English. We were shown to our room - Room #1!. Since it was the room closest to the restaurant there was a double set of doors to our room to cut down on noise from the hall. The room was spacious with a comfortable bed, had a mini refrigerator, and had access to the terrace outside our room. I suspect there were more rooms than parking spaces, although street parking was probably available. Breakfast was above average with scrambled eggs and bacon, along with the typical meats, cheeses and breads. The hotel was about a 20 minute walk to the old town of Garmisch.

Hey there,

and thanks for the nice review :-)

I started pointing out the second door after a review (I think it was on TripAdvisor...) that mentioned the noise from the hallway. Every review is a chance to get a little better ;-)

Safe travels and looking forward to seeing you again!

We booked two nights in a Maxi room through Orbitz. We were very grateful for the English speaking staff who helped us to figure out travel plans for each day. Our room was much bigger than expected and equipped with everything we could possibly need. So many small touches were evident everywhere. We were especially grateful for the gentleman at the front desk who helped us with a parking ticket we had received when visiting the Partnach Gorge. We didn't know how to pay it and he offered to take care of it out of his own personal account with us just giving him the 10 Euro fine. Apparently it is a very complicated process and would have been quite tricky for us to do from the U.S. We were very grateful for this! Overall, a wonderful and comfortable stay!

Room Tip: Maxi rooms are huge!

Hey guys,

and thanks for the nice review, much appreciated :-)

That parking ticket wasn't a big deal, quite easy with a German bank account -> but much trickier without one. So, you are very welcome :-)

I have the paperwork still here on file, if ever the rental company tries to charge you, let me know and I can send you a copy.

Safe travels!

Stayed four 4 nights during a summer driving trip of Germany. Hotel is located on main road into town and has parking onsite. Rooms were very clean and comfortable. The hotel is obviously a ski lodge during the winter. The restaurant offers dinner nightly and the food is exceptionally good and very reasonably priced. Walk into town approximately 15-20 minutes. Would highly recommend this hotel but ask for a room at the back. We stayed in the front rooms facing the street and they were noisy with road traffic, also could not leave door shut as there is no air conditioning and the rooms are quite hot in summer.

Stayed here for five nights in June in a jumbo family room. We had our two teenage daughters with us and the room was big enough for us all. It had a balcony and small kitchenette. The hotel is in a good location about a 15 minute walk to centre of garnish but has bus stop directly outside it. Breakfast was really good and served up to 10.30. You can buy tickets for zugspitz etc from hotel. Only two issues. The beds are very hard and there was no air conditioner in room. The weather was really hot while we were there so this did effect us. Otherwise very good

Hey there,

and thanks for the review!

We definitely need to make some adjustments to our FAQs... we do have two different mattress covers, so we can adjust the "spring" of the beds in 4 steps: no cover, the thin cover (slightly softer), the thick cover (softer) or both covers on top of one another (significantly softer). We do have those, but it seems like our FAQs are not optimally laid out so that guests can know this. Thanks for pointing it out, best way for us to improve!

As for A/C: You will have a hard time finding a hotel in Garmisch that has A/C. Even during the hottest days of the year, it will cool down to app. 16 °C at night... I can see how it would affect you during the day, though. That is why we bought fans for our rooms -> you can pick them up at the front desk :-)

This was very good input, so thanks again for taking the time to review us!!

See you next time ;-)

Our goal is to meet all your wishes! What are you looking for when you go on holidays? You might wish somewhat more than the ordinary standard? Hence, it is not only about bed, breakfast and mountain view. What we mean is our characteristic pleasant and casual ambience, which surrounds the guests, wherever they are in the house, whatever they do. We mean the mountains just in front of the door. Well, we mean the typical feeling in "Garmisch": the discovery of the unspoilt nature during a walk through the gorge "Partnachklamm", the little thrills during a hang-gliding tandem flight or the "adrenalin rush" during an adventurous rafting tour through the gorge of "Imst". Our declared goal is to be an ideal base for all your personal holiday activities. ... more   less
