“Fun for the whole family!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 February 2012

We went here on a whim. It was really fun and interesting. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and knew several languages so as not to leave anyone out. It is fun to put on the white suits for giggles, I am sure kids would like it. The wooden slide was fun. Also it is really cool how you can be walking and walking in the tunnels and then all of a sudden you are in Germany from Austria. I also believe there is another salt mine in the Hallstadt area of Austria, so if you miss this one you can try another.

“Perfect solution when it rains”

If you travel with kids or don't, it doesn't matter! The salt mines of Berchtesgaden are perfect for young and old, especially when the weather outside is bad!! We had a great time down there and especially riding the slides was fun!!

“Unique historic underground attraction for excitement seekers”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 February 2012

This is one of Europe's most fascinating sites, considering the fact that exactly this area on the mountainside above the mine, served as the chosen ground for Adolph Hitler to build his own home and famous Eagle's Nest in which he entertained together with his companion, Eva Brown, world's dignitaries. That area also hosted the homes of many of the Nazi leaders like Guring, Burman and others. Today, none of those homes exists, bu the salt mine of the small town of Berchtesgaden is still a world renowned attraction, together wit the two adjacent amazing lakes - Koenigssee and Obersee. I the salt mine, you wear traditional miners' clothes and take a ride on a mini miners' train through the miles long tunnels.

“Do this tour.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 January 2012

This was a great tour. It was educational and fun. You travel into the mine like the miners did. Then you slide down a couple of slides to get to the lower levels. the is a underground lake. It's a wonderful tour and well worth taking. It's fun for everyone although some of the kids might get bored with the technical info on mining salt. The lake and slides will give them a good experience.

“informative and fun!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 January 2012

On a cold and rainy day with no skiing to be had we ventured into the dry! and decided to give the salt mine a go. It was worth it, very well organised as the Germans seem to now how! For those non german speakers, they give you headphones so when the guide is speaking you just listen into them! going down into the mine on a little train was fun and the shoots you go down are great fun. Learnt a lot about salt production that i never knew!
