As we only had a couple of days in Heidelberg, we found the Elite Hotel, suited our needs. It was within reasonable walking distance of the Hauptbahnhof and very close to the old town. We were able to find a local restaurant on the first night, which was literally around the corner. We strolled into the old town (about a 15 minute walk), and up to the ruins of the Heidelberg Castle (Schloss Heidelberg). We found the staff to be very friendly and one young lady, in particular, was very caring in her dealings with our talkative 5 year old. The breakfast had many choices and was reasonable at 7.50 Euro each. It was so nice to sit out in the sun room and leisurely start our morning. Considering the age of the hotel, we found the room size to be very generous and reasonably appointed.
The shower only allowed around 30 seconds of water before you had to press the sensor button on the wall. It made for an interesting time. On our last morning there, it stopped working altogether. As our taxi arrived as we were checking out, we unfortunately did not get the opportunity to let the staff know. Because of the age of the property, the floor boards are EXTREMELY noisy.More
