Probably nice, but we couldn't actually check it out. Here is why. They don't accept electronic payment (without warning about that in their leaflets): the ATM in the downtown neighborhood where the train to the park leaves was out of service, no one was able to tell us whether cards were accepted at the park so we tried. Only to realize how hard minded certain persons can be: we even proposed to make a wire transfer from our bank account using their internet connection...no! Their solution was: go back downtown and check the ATM! Amazing experience!!!

We did visit Maerchen Paradies with our 3 daughters it is perfect entertainment for younger kids. Only thing you have to be aware of is that there is no possibility to buy coins for attractions with bank card or credit card. So you have to make sure you bring enough cash.

To start - do not expect Disney Land but accept Maerchen Paradies for what it is: a wonderful, small place for families with children up to 7/8 years old. Every corner tells a kids story (German) and there are simple but fun rides suitable for children from 3 years (and younger with parents). The place is set beautifully in the forrest with lot of shade on sunny days, take walks between rides or spend time on the playground. Even on weekends, it doesn't really get crowded.

Yes, you have to pay for each ride but the entrance fee is low. It is great for a ~3 hour visit and there are plenty of hiking trails for a walk after or before.

Our kids love it and we go on every trip to Heidelberg.

This did not meet our expectations. I have two children (4 and 7) and they were underwhelmed by this park. It cost €22 for the funicular railway up to the park (so I would recommend going by car if you can) and for us three entry cost €11, however you are then charged extra for tokens to be able to go on the rides. I guess very young children would like it but I didn't think it was good value for money for children over 3.

This place is great for small children, max. 10-11 years old. The amusement park is really nice because it is in the forest and can be really fun for small children!
