The hotel does not look much on the outside but the rooms, though small, are very clean and neat, linens fresh and crisp, toilette bigger than average European hotels. Our room had a view of the mountains but also faced the street and train tracks so you can hear the cars and trains passing by all day and all night, though our companions with rooms facing the back do not hear it. There is a McDonalds a block away so we did not avail of hotel breakfast. Our room had only one chair so the only other place to sit on is the bed. Closet is open-type, single desk has no drawers. No toiletries provided except liquid hand soap and the toilet paper (common in many European hotels, luckily we always have our own soap shampoo toothpaste etc so don't expect those here). We were out the whole day so really just came back to rest for the night, but because the beds were comfortable we had a good sleep despite the trains.

Room Tip: Avoid rooms facing the street

The room was small but adequate. No frig but otherwise ok. The real drawback of this hotel is the very annoying noise from a construction job next door from 7am to 7pm .Do not stay there until this work is finished.
Adequate parking close by so no need to pay for car parking.Breakfast was ok.Easy access into town by tram

Room Tip: keep away from rooms fronting on to the construction work going on at present

The hotel is a 15min walk from the main train station, and very easy to see from the road. It's in an industrial area, and it was perfectly quiet at night, even with the windows open. Unlike others, I did not hear trains (or any other noise) at night. You could take the tram to the old town, it's only $2.10 euro per trip and it's direct (no transfers), but the distance can be walked (about 20-30min).

The room was quite large, and very clean. There was a double bed, desk, small TV, and an open set of shelves to hang jackets and store clothing. The bathroom was small but functional, with a towel warming rack! There is no key, but a 6 digit code that needs to be typed into a keypad to gain entrance into the room.

Things to consider before booking:
Be warned that you will have to supply your own soap, shampoo, toothpaste, etc. Nothing is provided, except a plastic cup.

The only concern I had was that every day, the doors leading to the fire escape stairs were left open (to let the air in, but they were closed at night), meaning that anyone off the street could gain access inside the hotel. That did not turn out to be a problem, but it is worth knowing.

There was free wifi in the hotel, but like others have reported, the signal is very weak in the rooms.

The reception desk is not always staffed, which may be a problem if you need help during those times.

There is no restaurant close to the hotel. There are grocery stores and bakeries close to the bismarkplatz station (get off here to go to the old town), but not having a fridge in the room meant that I ate at the bakery A LOT!

I definitely recommend this hotel, it's clean and great for those on a budget.

Room Tip: Room 303 is very quiet, you can't hear the noise from the train station or the street at all!

This hotel is about a 15 minute drive from the old town (not really walking distance), in an industrial area across from the train lines. They have a car park (for an extra 6 euros per day!). The room itself was clean and nice, with a shower and hot towel rack. It had a little fan, small tv, little cupboard. There is not much to do close to the hotel, no shops and one place to eat a few meters up the road. Breakfast is an extra 7 euros per person. The reception area is not always manned and the room requires you type in a long number to gain access. It has free wifi, which was good. Good value for money at 58 euros plus parking cost. Good for a short stay.

We had two doubles. The rooms are spacious and street side that is also facing the tracks of the railway. In the nite it was too loud to open the windows, but july is not really warm ;-) this year in Germany.
A double bed with one broad matress, but no closed wardrobe, only open lockers. TV, no fridge, no room safe, but beverages at the concierge (up to 2300) and in the room a blower fan that we didnt need. LAN was not used by us.
Noise from other guests is limited to clapping of the doors.
The vent of the bathroom looks a little inefficient. Nice shower, enough space in the bathroom, but a lack of trays ! Only one bottle of cleanser in the bathroom.
Checkin and out was very convenient and the people are polite.
Breakfast is in the basement, but equipped with windows so it is light and nice. Tables are little small (bistro type), but the offer is diffent buns, croissant, bread, marmalade, honey, ham, bacon, cheese and sausages. Also cereals, milk, juices and hard boiled eggs.
You should order the breaky at checkin or the evening before.
HeidelbergWelcome cards (public transportation, free Schloss fare and some special cutoffs) are available at the reception.
Its a walk to the next tram station (to Bismarckplatz, Altstadt), and approx. 20 - 25 minutes pedwalk to the main station Heidelberg.
