“Hard to find but worth it”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 April 2012

Wow, finding this hidden gem is quite the exercise in perseverance. Best to ask at an Information Office and if possible they might know how to get there. It is between the two famous and exclusive thermal spa resorts, but down below. It has limited hours so definitely find out the hours before trying to locate it. It was only open for two one hour slots recently (April). It is totally inside and basically the ruins themselves that have been dug out. Very cheap at 2.50Euro per person inclusive of a free audio guide in the language of your choice. You can spend about 30-45 minutes maximum. No camera ops though. What makes this such a great site is the quality of the Roman Bath ruins and how close you can get to them (without touching of course). Very well preserved and the audio tour is very informative although you need to really concentrate. You can even see the heating ducts. Plus, exactly how they heated these baths 2,000 years ago! Very informative and easy to do.

“Not sure....?”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 January 2012

We went there, but it was closed on that particular day.
How ever, it didn't really look like much trough peeking trough the windows.

It's a preserved excavation site, showing an original roman bath-house as-it-were....but it looked like something you might walk trough in 30 minutes tops, I may be wrong.

Located below the Friedrichsbad main entrance, in the hallway to a parking lot of all things. :)

It's neat to see the old ruins, but the display wasn't quite what I expected.

“Not much left but still interesting”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 December 2011

These ruins are significant to see, just for their age, and to bring home the reality that the baths of this town have been a destination for so very long. THere's not much to look at in the ruins, which are below the Freiderichsbad structure. You cant really stroll through them as much as see them behind glass. Took me about five minutes to give it a quick scan.

“Interesting if you really like Roman history”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 November 2011

My wife and I are students of Roman history so we found this sight quite interesting and reasonably priced. It is well preserved and the auto guides are quite good. If you are not a history buff, then you might want to skip this attraction.
