It was a stinking hot day; thirty six degrees, and we were forty on a tour. When we arrived staff had a warm welcome for us with a cooling fruit juice; very nice.
This hotel is close to the centre of town, it is clean and all staff are very pleasant. We got a privilege room with a bathroom that was no privilege at all. It was so small and with such a contorted design that it was a joke. It could not accommodate even two very friendly people at one time and one had to squeeze into a corner to close the door and access the toilet!
Our evening meal was a fixed menu and to be kind, it was really nothing special....pretty typical for our recent Insight tours. Edible but awful to be frank, and there needs to be some tasting done by the Insight quality controllers....if they exist.
The warm welcome continued all night long, I can only surmise that it was because of an air conditioning system that was incapable of dealing with the load placed on it by the weather. We eventually opened the windows and turned off the incapable! I suspect that management is aware of this problem because it is noted in previous reviews, they also had all the curtains closed in the rooms when we arrived. Not good enough Mercure, get it sorted.

Breakfast here at the Mercure helped to heal the wounds inflicted the previous day at our Chomonix stay. There was a good variety of foods on offer, members of staff were very attentive and all was as it should be.
I have marked down service because management is aware of but has not sorted the air conditioner problem.More
