Good Hotel friendly staff at front desk but not really at the restaurant

4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 2 Apr 2018via mobile
The Hotel has a good location and the rooms are good as well. The bed is big and very comfortable. I loved the nuxe amenities! The staff at the front desk is friendly. Unfortunately I don’t remember the name of the man who was there when we arrived the 28th (at almost 2 am). He did absolutely our stay! Thank you!
Regarding the restaurant, I think the staff is not well organized. There was only 2 tables of 2 and we waited 30 minutes just for water. Note that at least I saw 5 waiters. The waiter switched our dishes twice. Even after putting them in other table, she came and just picked them from the other guests and placed them in ours. It was quite obvious that they had other personal issues to discuss.

This is a very nice hotel with very helpful staff. It is a bit difficult to find due to the maze of streets in Chamonix, and if you are driving, make sure to contact the hotel and arrange parking. Rooms are well appointed, tastefully done and a little on the small side, but not horribly so. I would stay again.

We spent three nights at the hotel as part of a ski weekend. The hotel is well positioned in that it is a 5 minute walk to chamonix sud bus station, which is the main place for all the various buses that take you around the region. Although it is over a 20 minute bus ride from the more advanced ski areas.
The hotel has a lovely spa and pool complex that includes a dry sauna, a steam room and Jacuzzi. Perfect for relaxing after a day's skiing.
The hotel has a great attitude towards kids, although we didn't cone with ours. They have juice boxes and Haribo that kids can take, a little corner with a tv playing shows etc.
We had breakfast in the mornings. It was alright but could have been better. The most disappointing element was the coffee. The cappuccino from the machines was undrinkable. There was also no variety to the daily selection. The day there was lOreal conference the staff were clearly unprepared and everything ran out and wasn't being replaced timely.
The rooms are well appointed. Would recommend an internal facing room as the one going out onto the street you cannot really use the balcony as the road is very loud.
The staff were very helpful and attentive.
Overall very pleasant.

Stayed for 4 nights on a ski vacation. Location is great - about 5-10 minute walk from town center, 5 minutes from ski bus pick up. The rental shop in the hotel is very convenient (and is the storage for gear overnight). The spa is amazing for apres ski relaxing while the on site restaurant is plentiful for breakfast and dinner. Nice added touches, like games and DVDs to borrow, a kid book with toys, complete the stay. The front staff was very helpful for a first timer - where to ski, how to buy passes, and how to navigate the bus system. My only recommendation would be more storage (hangers or hooks) for the rooms - ski gear takes up a lot of space!

Wonderfully contemporary hotel located in the center of the town. The staff were extremely kind and helpful with negotiating the transportation around town and their recommendations for dining and ski areas. The staff at the ski shop were also helpful and professional. The rooms were very tidy. Breakfast was more than adequate, and when we wanted a change, we just asked for something off the the menu. The spa and banya set up were also amazing. We can't thank the staff for a great visit to Chamonix. We can't wait to return and stay at l'Heliopic again.

Room tip: Get the quick tutorial on how to use the spa/banya.

Do not visit this hotel, it’s an utter rip off. Hotel costs in excess of £300 a night, nothing is included for this cost. Breakfast is very poor, over cooked rubbery scrambled eggs, tasteless pancakes, limited fruit, things frequently needed refilling which was done slowly and with very bad grace at €16 a person per day this is unacceptable. The rooms are small which would be fine but limited space for storing clothes which is a problem when skiing with all the gear needed. No shuttle buses to the slopes provided by the hotel, other high end hotels in the area do provide this service. Reception staff are happy to help with bookings for restaurants etc which is nice. The reception manager who checked us out was extraordinarily rude. Will never return to this hotel.

Dear Sir,

We are sorry that your stay with us was not up to your expectations. However, we would like to remind you some information you had been provided with before coming to the hotel :

- Breakfast is indeed extra as specified on your confirmation
- Room size is also indicated and the room type you had definitely offers storage space. Ski equipment (skis, boots) can be stored in our on-site ki shop
- The main bus stop to all ski resorts is 2 mn walking from the hotel. 2 five star hotels only in Chamonix have their own shuttle.
- The room cost was £270 and £220

On your departure, as you were unsatisfied with the fact the ski smart card was not refundable, our Front Office Manager just informed you that it could be re-used and that this policy was the Compagnie du Mont Blanc's, not the hotel's. In no way was he rude as you hardly left him the possibility to respond to your feedback.

Kind regards

Frederic Martineau
Hotel Manager
