“Mercure Centre Chamonix”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 April 2012

We had a great 5 day (Easter) stay - breakfast was great and the rooms had a new modern design with a great balcony. Although the atmosphere was a bit dull in the hotel, especially in the evenings, it was Hedi, at the front desk who gave us some good entertainment! He was funny, charming and most helpful whenever we asked for assistance (which was several times!). It's important to have a type like Hedi to be able to communicate with the younger and livelier guests!! Shame about the pricey buffets and drinks.............
To the Manager of the Mercure Centre - give Hedi a pay rise!!!!!!

Fam. Kordecki

Room Tip: get the rooms with large balconies!!!

Practically next to the tran station, we had a nice balconey, with a beautiful view of the mountains. The wife and I would go out side and breathe and watch the mountains. The receptionist was very helpful, I didn't feel any issues with not speaking freach. The rooms were pretty big in size, while the interior felt a bit cheap like a typical ski chalet, not to say it wasn't comfortable. Pleanty of storage for your snow gear, as we went in the summer, it wasn't relevant but we had heaps of luggage for 2 months travel so It was good to not be squashed like a can of sardines with all the storage space available. As Chamonix is pretty small you can walk around the township easily to the restaurants and to catch the montreux train was about a 5 minute walk and aiguille du midi chairlift about 10-15minutes. The reception was helpful with directions.

This was my second stay at this hotel, and I can say that when I come back to Chamonix I'll definitely stay again at the Mercure Chamonix Centre. Apart from convenient location - a few steps from the railway station, splendid rooms especially those with views of the Mont Blanc, excellent dining services, I found the staff remarkably nice. From housekeeping to reception desk, bar and dining-room staff, all of them were wonderful, which makes all the difference. Smiles, prompt solutions to problems, attention to detail, ready to help when addressed with enquiries, questions, etc. The hotel sent a satisfaction questionnaire which I answered, but wanted to express all this here for other travelers to see and take into account when choosing a hotel for a vacation in beautiful Chamonix.

Room Tip: Seems that most people ask for rooms with views of the Mont Blanc on the south side, and it's in...

Upon reading a few reviews we were dubious about what this hotel was really going to be like! 12 of us stayed, the rooms were stunning, v modern with all expected ammeneties. We were half board, one of the best breakfasts ever had, good buffets at night, themed each evening. The bar area and relaxing area by the fire were great. My only negative would be the service, rather shabby at dinner in terms of getting drinks. And the reception welcome was poor but every other reception interaction was fine, I wouldn't let this put you off, nicest ski accomm we've ever had by quite a way. Hotel .com made an error and gave us half board for room only, took a while but they sorted it out, hotel was a little rude about it though, all worked out fine. Little too far to walk to ski lift, 15 mins and bus about 5 min walk away so a little trail but similar to most places in chamonix. Enjoy!
