This apartment is out of the centre of town with superb views across the valley to the Bossons glacier and Mont Blanc massif. The kitchen is well equipped and had everything we needed during our stay. Would definitely recommend.
The view. Oh the view. You really are dead center right in front of the Bossons and Mont Blanc. Being higher than the valley you also get a very different view than from the town center, and it is quite dramatic. Wall to wall, floor to ceiling windows allow you to make the most of this.
Kitchen is well equipped and has a great oven. Plenty of cookware. Shower has great water pressure.
Property itself is however very average. Some key things worth noting:
- Mattress in the bedroom was too uncomfortable for us to sleep on. After the first night we had to switch to the couch in the lounge, effectively using the one bedroom property as a studio. This was particularly disappointing given that the hassle of a pull out couch was something we specifically wanted to avoid, hence renting a one bedroom over a studio.
- Heating was very ineffective while we were there (mid December). Flat was always cold.
- Small kitchen - ok if you are two people but think it would have been a struggle with a bigger party.
- You can't use the fireplace, which we didn't expect. I am a very thorough reader of anything sent to me and this was a surprise.
The property is indeed on an aggressive hill, which really should be stipulated clearly as I can see it being very difficult for some to manage. Though the property may be 15 minute walk to the town center according to the website, that really depends on how you define town center. We never made it to the Super-U in the center in less than 25 minutes, nearest bakery 20 minutes. Add 10 minutes for the return journey due to the aforementioned hill (it's quite the hill). We got lucky getting lifts from people otherwise this would have been a very challenging place to stay without a car.
Also, we booked our transfers with Chamonix All Year and the driver dropped us off in the wrong place, so we had to drag snowboard bags and backpacks uphill once we got directions by phone.
This was a very comfortable apartment. location was excellent and closer to town and skiing than I expected. bathroom and kitchen very stylish. surprised that rules stated no barbeque (photo of barbeque on deck) nor allowed to use fireplace. Very warm and views of MT Blanc incredible. Love security of electric metal shutters. Ageny were excellent with communication and professionalism. Sofa bed in lounge had slight slope which tends to happen . Tv very good. dishwasher useful. Driveway to parking steep so make sure have chains or winter tyres .
We stayed in the apartment during a skiing trip to Chamonix in Feb 2015. The apartment is in a very nice part of town about 5 minutes walk from the main Brevent lift. The apartment itself is very nicely presented and well equipped and we were impressed with how clean and tidy everything was when we arrived. The apartment is about a 15 minute walk in to town, but be aware that it is up a rather steep and long hill back to the apartment. If you have a car then this won't be an issue and there is plenty of parking outside the property. Chamonix is a lovely town and has a lot going for it. Plenty of restaurants and bars and loads to do if you aren't skiing. Unfortunately the skiing is rather spread out and you need to take a bus to most of the ski areas. The bus goes from town which is a little bit of a trek. Overall we were very impressed with the apartment and would highly recommend it as a place to stay albeit with a bit of an uphill walk.
