Everything about this hotel is top notch, from it's superb location to the service and professionalism of the staff to the luxurious yet modern design. This is about as good as hoteling gets. While in Europe on a business trip, I decided to extend my stay with a tour of the South of France. The hotel is sleekly modern but lush at the same time, and the ambiance luxurious yet welcoming. While hotel bars and lobbies are sometimes off putting, the lobby / bar of this hotel was an oasis after a day in hectic Marseille. The food and drinks were good and the views are amazing. I didn't love Marseille but would go back just to revisit this hotel.

The location of this hotel is just fabulous and was one of the reasons we chose it. Really romantic. The check in was so fast and we were offered for an upgrade. So far so good.
In first just arrived to our room, hairs were founded in the bathtub. Ok, no worries, I could take out by myself. When we came back at night It wasn't able to sleep much through the first night. A continous beep was surrounding all the room.Next morning, we ask for a change and no problemThe pool area is too smalll and the gym is very limited. On our 3rd day, we went down to the breakfast at 10:30 and it was completely off.

I selected the Sofitel Vieux Port for my last night in Provence following a week long trip that included some vacation time and a conference. The hotel exceeded my expectations: a lovely view, luxurious bed linens and sumptuous mattress, a rainhead shower to die for, lovely furnishings, attentive service and prompt room service. Unfortunately, and through no fault of the hotel, there was a very loud music festival going on across the highway that went on until 2 am, making sleep impossible. As I had a 5 am wake-up call for an early flight back to the US, this definitely marred my experience. I would, though, highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a special experience (just check the Marseille festival schedule first)!

This is a fabulous hotel at the old port of Marseilles. Staff was great and accommodated several requests. The view is breathtaking and when the sun sets the old city glows.
