The person who recommended the stays on our 2 weeks in Provence (Luberon and Riviera) highly recommended this hotel and we very reluctantly agreed. Best decision we made on this trip. The hotel name alone put us off, screaming "American or British Hotel".
Not even close. The hotel staff were all extremely pleasant, warm and friendly, knowledgeable, always available, excellent English, provided wonderful recommendations to good restaurants that were French-locals oriented.
We had a wonderful 3rd floor overlooking the bay, marina, looking toward the beach and St Jean Cap Ferrat.
As good as the hotel the location may have been better - Villefrance sur Mer is a wonderful place. We didn't want the glitz of St Tropez or Cannes, we wanted to be surrounded by French and we were. The seaside and hillside restaurants were fantastic, salads, seafood, Rose!!! The beach was beautiful, a 5 minute walk along the quay. Ten minute drive to Cap Ferrat, 15 to central Nice, less than an hour to Cannes and Vence and Monaco.
Waking up to the sounds of the few fisherman and the smell of fresh baked goods - we slept with windows open, Priceless

The Welcome Hotel sits on the waterfront in Villefranche. It is a piece of well preserved history and each of its rooms have Magnificat sea views. You get what you pay for and it is not cheap but you are at the centre of everything. We found booking direct with the hotel the most cost effective.

The staff could not be more helpful and the rooms have air conditioning that works and they are well presented.

The hotel can book you unto some of the private beaches (very pricey) but they will also provide you with beach towels and you can take the short walk (5minutes) to the nearby beach where you can chill for free.

Sitting at the front of the hotel in the evening is great for people and car watching if you are into luxury automobiles.

I highly recommend it.

Stayed here for a weekend away from it all and loved it. The hotel has tonnes of character and is in a really gorgeous location. Much more soul than some of the big glitzy or corporate hotels on the cote d'azur. The staff are all great, I was travelling alone and felt really comfortable in the hotel and bar (bar manager lovely). Balconies are the best thing, could sit there for hours. Rooms nice too. I was worried I would miss having a pool but the hotel organises trips to the Plage Passable, the boat picks you up outside the hotel and drops you back, fantastic beach. Villefranche is lovely too, busy but not as manic as many other places nearby. A gorgeous little town. I had a really lovely weekend, a great way to round off the summer. I will definitely be back

Perfect location, a short walk to the beach, but quiet and away from the crowds. Beautiful view. Friendly, helpful staff. Wonderful cafes are just outside the door. Easy drive to local towns. Worth every euro!

Room Tip: The top floor has some low ceilings.

We loved our stay here!!! The front desk staff were so friendly, and the sommelier in the wine bar was awesome! He spent so much time talking to us about the wines. I wish I could remember his name! The hotel is so nice, and what beautiful views. It's right on the harbor in Villefranche, which is a beautiful village near Nice. I would love to come back some day!!!
