A surprise call from an ex-pat lost for 8 months, brought us out our slumber. He had picked up a convertible and demanded our presence to join him for a cruise through the Corniche and lunch in Monaco. Quick as a flash we were ready for adventure.
Most people have been on the coastal cornishe or the Moyan (middle), the inferieure is for me the most dramatic anywhere along the Riviera. Its known as the N98 going from ST.Raphael to la Napoule,a spectacular journey. On one side is the mountains; on the other the Mediterranean, and all the way along, the road clings to sheer rock-faces that seem to plunge down to the tiny rocky calanques, inlets, bays dotted with yacht sails and beach umbrellas.
We enjoyed the the joyride, sparkling repartee and the joi- de- vievre as the wind swirled around our sleek craft. Our irrescable mate is a reincarnation of James Bond. Leaving early in the morning we had a superb ride overlooking the majestic sea. Lunch was superb and our return along the Moyan was before the Afternoon traffic came to life.
Salute,dear mate. You are a hero.More
