“Elegant Base for Exploring Aix”

As said by others, George provided a perfect welcome to Aix. We travelled as a couple with a friend, and the upstairs/downstairs layout was perfect. Each room had an ensuite bathroom - the upstairs had a gorgeous tub as well as bidet, and a good shower. The middle floor also has a watercloset. The house is superbly clean, and George has thought of all the little comforts. I'm not sure if he does it every time, but we were pleasanty surprised to find a bottle of rose chilling in the fridge for us. - perfect after a long drive. ;) There is a small washing machine which works perfectly, lovely closet space and the beds are very comfortable. The Maison de Mollis is on a small roundabout which is very pleasant, as it lets a very pretty amount of light in, with tree and fountain, but it is also only two blocks to the famous Deux Garcons restaurant on the main promenade and all the shoppping of the old centre-ville. George also pointed out an extensive Saturday market that begins only 2 blocks from the house. It was perfect for our group to be able to go out together but also come back separately. The parking was very good - right in front of the door, and protected by bollards. I would highly recommend the Maison de Mollis and I would absolutely stay again if (when!) we come back to Aix!

“Excellent Venue from which to explore Aix en Provence”

Georges was an excellent host - he and his daughter gave us a good orientation to the city and were available for questions throughout our stay. House was comfortable and as advertised - it is on three floors. One bedroom as you enter - steps to the living area and then second bedroom the next floor up. This provided a beautiful view from the porch from the upper bedroom.

“Perfect 'home' in a beautiful city”

Four weeks in Aix-en-Provence and how fortunate to find such a wonderful base from which to explore Pays Aix. Maison 'Miollis' is extremely comfortable: all amenities (including good wifi) & spotless. The website photos do the property perfect justice. Georges & Marie-Luce were our most engaging and thoughtful hosts with lots of preliminary info (restaurants, sights etc) to get us started. They were available if needed, but otherwise invisible. A huge benefit is the dedicated car space which allowed us the freedom to come & go without the worry and expense of finding street parking. We found the location of the house ideal. Place Miollis is just off the old city ring road (but without the attendant traffic noise), so we could get in & out of the city without the nerve-stretching experience of manoeuvering through the narrow one-way system of the old city streets (especially on Market days!). And only 5 minutes stroll down to Cours Mirabeau. The old city itself is small (but extremely lively & youthful being a University town) so easily accessible on foot from the House. Or if you prefer not to walk, the small inner-city buses, M1 & M3, stop only 30 metres away in the square plus the tiny Diabline bus. Place Miollis itself is a lively square, full of normal 'French Life' and not the tourist hubbub of Cours Mirabeau. We could sit on our balcony grazing on our day's market shopping and a chilled glass of Rose listening to the hum (and occasional shriek) of the abundant student life, watching the never-ending dance of the cars looking for a hole to poke into, deciding where to eat, where to go tomorrow - so many choices, so difficult, so happy! Just downstairs we had a couple of eateries worth mentioning: Cuisine de Comptoir for (really!) delicious tartines + salad or gazpacho, delightful company and great tour advice (plus live music on Friday evenings) and Corner Bistro for terrific hamburgers, but definitely a cut well above your usual fast food snack bar. Maison 'Miollis' has been a perfect 'home' in a beautiful city. Could easily have stayed longer.
