The location for this self-service no frills apart'hotel (the weekly "cleaning" is only an exchange of towels and bathmat, nothing else) is perfectly located couple of blocks from the Rotunde (and so walking distance from most major attractions and just about all bus routes), and the price was relatively reasonable for Aix-en-Provence in the "high season" (74.50 a night). I was staying in the smallest studio, which has only a pair of French doors going to the miniscule balcony. Because there is no air conditioning or cross breeze, even though the days were not unnaturally hot, the room was, and would not cool down until just before dawn. I would estimate that the room temperature was above 95 degrees for the afternoon and most of the night. This seemed to be a problem for my neighbors as well, who may have had bigger rooms. My studio faced Avenue Mirabeau and several student dorms/foyers on the street so the street was very, very noisy with loud students and a surprising amount of traffic except for between about 4:30 and 6:30 a.m., but I had to keep the windows open or suffocate. The fold-out bed, unlike Citadine beds, felt like the lowest-end fold-out (unstable, lumpy). No laundry facilities on the premises or even close by. Typical European cheap hotel corner shower, though this one is handheld-no bracket. Flat-screen TV gets a variety of international channels, including CNN and BBC-W.This is a very basic studio and probably would not be so uncomfortable were it not for the heat and noise. Since I was here doing research, the free wireless was a big plus. I think this is a great place for young night-owls who are used to dorm situations. Front desk staff were nice and helpful; one has rudimentary English.

Apart from the fact that the minimum stay is 4 nights (i.e. you can't check out early without paying for at least 4 nights), I found this aparthotel pleasant and clean.

There were only two minor aspects that I did not like about the Residhome. One was that in our room for two, there was no real bed - but a pull out sofa that wasn't exactly the most comfortable. The other was that the reception desk's hours are kind of inconvenient. Because it's an aparthotel, we didn't get our bed made or fresh towels every day.

However, the atmosphere was nice, the room was tidy and sanitary, and the rates were really good. And free WiFi was included. Also, if you're planning to stay a while in Aix, the rooms have a stovetop and a refridgerator, so you can cook for yourself if you don't want to eat out for every meal. I recommend this hotel to travelers who are planning an extended stay in Aix.
