Fabulous Hotel

Review of Hotel Alcyon
5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 22 July 2018via mobile
My husband and I had the pleasure of staying 2 nights at this fabulous hotel. On arrival Eric had not booked in advance for a parking space, no problem we were fitted in. We were supposed to be on level 3 but once the owner saw Eric's face and expressed I had a bad back she very kindly gave us a room on level 2. The room was super. We have stayed in many hotels in France, but this was the best. Apart from being a good price, the little extras were great, tea, coffee, water and toiletries. The towels were wonderful so soft and beautifully laundered as were the sheets. Felt I was not deprived of any home comforts. Delighted to also find a hairdryer in the bathroom. A great asset as far as I was concerned. The breakfast were lovely. Lots of fruit, yoghurts etc. Overall the owner was a real star. She made us feel so welcome and could not have been more helpful. Would strongly recommend this hotel. A few minutes walk to the town centre passing over the beautiful River Loire with Egrets flying in and out. Thank you for making our stay so lovely and we enjoyed the good laugh we had after breakfast. Lovely memories x

Absolutely horrible hotel owner! The hotel owner has listed onsite car parking being available on one of the booking search engines without making any statements about a car parking fee, and then demands a car parking fee when checking in. It was initially a small issue but then turned completely bizarre when I attempted to point this out to her stating that she at least needs to correctly update the facilities available section on the booking engine to reflect this so that customers are not given false or misleading information. The owner then became totally unreasonable and stated she absolutely would not and that it was the customers fault that the car park charge is not listed on the booking engine!!! She subsequently cancelled my booking and refused to let me check in! Extremely bizarre and one of the most weird experiences I have had. I would never trust this owner and certainly never stay here. The owner appears to be attempting to deceive customers in order to get bookings and has no interest in providing any customer service.

It is next to train station and Detours velo bike store. It is 15 min. Walk to center of town. Very helpful and friendly host. Breakfast is good for European standards. Rooms are small but nice, view of Castle.

Room tip: Ask for castle view.

Stayed last night at this hotel. Located near the train station and approximately 10 mins walk from Ancient Quarter. Immaculately clean, very quiet and very comfortable. Lady at reception extremely helpful. Parking is €5 per day but plenty of free parking on street. Reception closed between 11-3pm so no access during then but tabac next door for coffee if you arrive between those times. Very nice hotel

We stayed just overnight whilst cycling the Loire a velo trail. A great welcome, comfortable room, and a short stroll to the town. A really nice, traditional small hotel and a lovely host. Cannot recommend enough.

The hotel is lovely and clean, just a couple of hundred metres away from the river Loire, and in a good location to walk into the town, that is about 10 minutes walk away. Muriel, the owner makes you feel very welcome right from the point of arrival. The breakfast is well worth the money, there is a good selection of breads, cereals, fresh fruit, jams etc. Although the hotel is next to the station, apart from a couple of freight trains during the evening, we didn't experience any disturbance.
