We visited Le Douceur Angevine at Domaine de Joreaux for 4 days in mid June 2017. My husband and I were accompanied by my 79 year old mother. I had researched the property before booking and already knew the area from previous visits. The owner, who also runs the attached Chambre d'Hote, is Petra. I found her really easy to communicate with via Trip Advisor and she was just as helpful and easy going in person. The house is very quaint and full
of character. It is comfortable and reasonably well equipped with a peaceful private although not entitely enclosed, garden. There is a lovely communal play area for children and plenty of space for them to run and explore in safety.
Gennes is a good location for exploring more of the Loire area, being within an hours drive of several chateaux, attractions at Saumur, Angers and Fontevraud and there is a lovely zoo at Doue La Fontaine, as well as several troglodyte sites near by. You will have to drive though to find a restaurant for dinner.
My only criticism of the property is that the staircase is spiral and not easy for older or physically challenged people. Also you have to go through the master bedroom to access the only bathroom ( TripAdvisor advertises 2 bathrooms which is incorrect) and the second bedroom. It is well arranged for a family with young children but not ideal for several adults.
Thank you Petra for making us so welcome, we really enjoyed our stay and loved the ambiance and location of this little gem of a gite in the stunning Loire valley.
