Overnight stay

4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 4 Oct 2024
This was more like a motel than a hotel in layout with all rooms accessed from the exterior and good, free parking. A disadvantage is that, when it is raining, there is no shelter when using the stairs.
While the location is not central for visiting Saumur itself, it is close to the main road that crosses the bridge. It is a useful place for an overnight stop. If you need petrol or other supplies before resuming your journey, there is an Intermarche close by. While there are no 'ordinary' restaurants in the immediate vicinity, there is a Jules & John and a KFC nearby.
The staff were very pleasant and helpful. The cost of the room [including breakfast] meant it was very good value. The breakfast was very good; although there was no fruit, there was plenty [self-serve; all you can eat] of fruit juice, yoghurt, cereal, bread, croissants etc.
Although the room wasn't luxurious, everything was as it should be, and despite the warning we had from reading reviews, there was no problem with the state of cleanliness. The bathroom was a bit small; essentially a plastic module in the corner, containing a shower, toilet and washbasin, but perfectly adequate. Despite being near a main road, there was no traffic noise and the only noise was from the other guests, but this didn't go on too late.

It is very noisey as it it beside a dual carriage way.
The room was small and hot. We opened a window but this was noisey and the womanin the next room smoked constantly so her cigarette smoke came into our room.
The bed base was really dirty.. I hope it was spilt coffee!!! It was also torn.
All in all, relatively cheap but really poor. Better to spend a little more and get a comfortable night's sleep!

Room tip: Go somewhere else.. There are no positives!

Hi,

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback regarding your recent stay at our hotel. We are very sorry to hear that your experience did not meet your expectations, and we sincerely apologize for the inconveniences you encountered.

We regret that the noise from the dual carriageway affected your stay. We are currently exploring solutions to better soundproof our rooms to ensure a more peaceful environment for our guests.

We are also sorry to hear about the issues you experienced with the room itself. A small, hot room with cigarette smoke from a neighboring room is certainly not the experience we aim to provide. We will address the ventilation concerns to ensure better air quality and will enforce stricter smoking policies to prevent such occurrences in the future.

The condition of the bed base is unacceptable. We assure you that cleanliness and maintenance are our top priorities, and we will be investigating this matter to ensure it is resolved immediately. Your comfort and safety are paramount, and we will take corrective measures to ensure such issues do not recur.

While we strive to offer affordable accommodations, we understand that comfort should not be compromised. We appreciate your feedback and will use it to improve our services and facilities.

We hope you will consider staying with us again in the future, giving us an opportunity to provide you with a more comfortable and pleasant experience. If you have any further concerns or need assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us directly.

Sincerely,

Reception - Natis

Extremely thin walls, uncomfortable bedding and no air conditioning.

The breakfast was mediocre at best and the room cleaning staff regularly ignored do not disturb signs.

Barely acceptable for a single night's stay, hell if staying a fortnight.

Room tip: Best not to go really, there are other hotels closer to saumur town with similar prices

Ok, it was late and we were on a budget and we needed somewhere to sleep. Except that we didnt. Rap music played somewhere in the hotel until 3am. Mostly workers vans outside in the car park area so at 6.30am it was noisy again.
Also, its supposed to have a no smoking policy but our room stank of tobacco smoke.

Would we stay there again? - Yes, most definitely. The rooms are 'compact' but give all that is needed if, like us, you don't want all the frills that some hotels offer. Think of this as a no-frills, modern, Travel Lodge type place. The rooms were clean and the large king-size bed very comfortable. Incorporated is a shower room/toilet ( much like the plastic pods you get on Brittany Ferries, but smaller. Car parking is immediately outside and the compound is locked at night for security (password available) Despite being alongside a main road the room was very quiet, mainly because the French screen their roads with a concrete wall. Breakfast was the usual self-service carton of yoghurt, toast, bar Breton (cake) with jams, juice and a selection of hot drinks from a dispenser. The staff were very friendly but I suspect that not much English is spoken here ( no problem). Guests were multinational, so we heard several different languages around and about. That must be a recommendation in itself.

Secure parking, Polite and helpful staff, rooms clean with facilities all in order. Hot showers, beds comfortable and made up every day. Breakfast by 06.30 so if you're out early you can still eat. Have used before and will again. Location just off a main road but the noise is not intrusive. 15 minute drive to city centre during work hours, it'd be a lot less in the evening.
