We had the pleasure of staying with Zoé and Mathieu in September and couldn’t be happier with our experience! The stairs were not a problem, and Mathieu was more than willing to assist with the suitcases when we checked in and out. The rooms were impeccably clean and the bed was super comfy with luxurious bedding. We thoroughly enjoyed the scrumptious breakfast each morning. The location was excellent, and parking our car in the nearby garage was not a problem.
We also took the day long Normandy Beach tour with Mathieu, and were not disappointed. He was a wonderful guide, and took us to all the sights we were interested in seeing.
We will definitely return to this gem of a hotel if we come back to Caen. I’d highly recommend it.
Thank you Zoé and Mathieu for helping us to make great memories!

The hotel remodelling is neat and clean but the rooms are still very small, the hotel has no elevator, the bathroom is tiny, there is no parking and the use of a nearby large public parking will add €20 to your cost/day. A good thing about remodelling is that it made the room quiet by using double glasing windows but the lack of air conditioning may have you open the windows and loose the sound conditioning. The hotel hosts are very friendly and helpfull, the breakfast is good and plentifull (eggs and some fruits would make it better). The location is very good.

Thank you. Underground parking is situated at 50m from the hotel (1.50€ from 7pm to 08am or 11€ for 24€). We propose also superior double room for a more confortable stay (20m²), with sofa. Breakfast is 9.80€ with home made cake and yougurt, pastries with local butter, apple juice from farm, Lavazza coffee, fres bread, kiwi …We take in charge lugggage. Zoé and Mathieu

We stayed here for one night and were very impressed. The road is being dug up outside (as are many roads in Caen) so we were not sure what it was going to be like inside. We were pleasantly surprised by a light and modern refurbishment. Our room (no 20) was large and had a comfortable large bed and surprisingly powerful shower. The owner was very pleasant and spoke annoyingly good English (no point trying out my rusty French!). The location was superb and it was easy to walk to the key tourist sights, as well as to excellent restaurants. We had the breakfast which was reasonable value although not going to set the world on fire. The coffee machine was good (and free throughout the stay). We parked in the underground parking in Place de la Republique which was close to the hotel and secure (even though the spaces were quite tight and not that plentiful when we arrived mid-afternoon). We would recommend this hotel based on price, location and cleanliness.

Room tip: Room 20 was large and had a sofa too ...

We spent 3 nights at Hotel La Fontaine in August 2018 with my parents. Our hosts Zoé and Mathieu were welcoming and very helpful with advice about restaurants and sight seeing around Normandy.
Mathieu changed the room for my parents when he saw Mum navigating the stairs, to a room on the lowest level possible. There is no lift, so ideally you need to be able to use stairs for 2 levels.
Our room was compact, but the bed was extremely comfortable and the bed linen a high quality. We slept with the balcony doors open and were not bothered by noise from the street.
Breakfast was worth the additional cost. Freshly squeezed orange juice and we had the tastiest croissants we experienced during two weeks in France here. Mathieu's homemade yoghurt was delicious and there was homemade cake too.
Mathieu arranged for us to visit Falaise castle, which was incredibly enjoyable with interactive tablets showing how the castle would have been furnished during its time. We could have gotten to Falaise castle by public transport but it would have been convoluted and time consuming. We recommend asking Mathieu for guidance about visiting sites outside of the Caen centre. The hotel was within walking distance for all the sites we wanted to see in Caen.

Stayed here for 5 nights (8th sept- 13th in the triple room.
On our arrival we were greeted warmly by Mathieu and shown our room.
Very clean and organised Hotel in a very good location close to all shops/restaraunts and Castle.
Caen is currently installing a new Tram system, which is a little disruptive within the City but when completed will be excellent.
Parking for the Hotel is within a very short walk in a secure Car Park at such a cheap rate.
I recommend this Hotel for its Location/Owners Zoé and Mathieu who always had a smile and Value for money.

Thank you Zoé and Mathieu
