Hotel Tardif is a very old building with lots of character. It has been maintained beautifully and has lots of character. But it has also been modernized in critical areas - the bathrooms. Our room was very large, unusual in Europe. The staff was very hospitable. We enjoyed chatting with the owner, Anthony, at breakfast one day. He speaks very good English. He made sure that we made it to the tapestry museum. Well worth the time! He is 7th generation from Bayeaux.
The guesthouse is near the tapestry museum and the cathedral. Also, has lots of restaurants nearby, walking distance to all. That part of town is older with lots of character.
The place is very clean. The continental breakfast had everything we needed and wanted. Plus the host will cook eggs to order for you. The grounds are outstanding. We were there in the fall but still had lots of flowers and greenery.
We were driving and they have a private area to park the car for no charge.
It would be a great place to use as a base to travel through the Normandy area. Wish we could have stayed longer. It's very close to the American Cemetery and the D Day sites.
Highly recommend it!More
