Stayed for a week at this hotel in summer.
The hotel is in an excellent location for the train station and all sight seeing.
We had lovely breakfasts to start the day.
Staff were nice but not the most helpful I have ever encountered.
The room was hot but we were provided with a fan. The views onto the avenue were perfect.
Great base for a trip to Nimes.

Good location right by the station. Very helpful and welcoming staff. For what I paid and the star rating of the hotel, facilities and cleanliness etc were all as you would expect. I'd certainly use again.

The hotel is very well located - close to the station and an easy walk into the town and its historic sights. There is a small car park. We stayed four nights and found a space in there each night. The reception area and lounge is smart and the staff are all helpful and friendly.

The main problem was on our first night. Having had an early start to the day we checked in, went to our room (no. 14) and had a couple of hours sleep before venturing into town for the evening. The room was large enough with two double beds and looked spotlessly clean. However on waking up I noticed a couple of small marks on my duvet. To my horror, they were bed bugs who had feasted on me while asleep. On further inspection there were very many more!!!

Back at reception they switched us to room no. 4, where we spent the next 30 minutes checking the bedding very very carefully, and also everything that we had moved from the first room. All was ok, and no more unwelcome guests in our room during our stay. We did get a free breakfast for the experience, but 16 Euros hardly compensates for the experience.

The room (4) was large enough with a large bathroom also. It is obviously one of the rooms allocated to disabled guests. It faces the car park and station, but there was virtually no noise. The bedroom has a wardrobe to hang clothes, but no drawer space.

Breakfast at 8 Euros per person seemed rather steep, but was better value than we could get outside. Basic, but as much coffee and fresh fruit juice as you wanted.

Overall, the hotel represents excellent value for money. Basic accommodation but comfortable enough for a few days. Our bed bugs experience was unfortunate, which is why I can't give a higher rating. I really do hope they manage to sort out the problem in room 14 because I know it is very difficult to eradicate a bed bug infestation.

Room Tip: Avoid room 14 until the bed bugs have gone. Room 4 was large and comfortable, and, reassuringly, a good distance from room 14 !!!

The hotel Abalone is very conveniently located close to the station and within easy walking distance of the Arènes, the Maison Carré and the old town. The staff were all very welcoming, and provided advice on restaurants, etc. Our room was clean and spacious, and pleasantly decorated. The beds were comfortable. Note: some rooms look out towards the station, and even though the windows are well insulated, this does generate a little noise. If this bothers you, ask for a room facing the other way. The buffet breakfast was quite good, and included fresh fruit, ham and cheese. WiFi is free, and worked well.
