“Perfect Location”
Reviewed 24 March 2012

I was at this hotel for three nights while a family member attended meetings. The room in the newer building was very large, with a desk and chaise lounge in addition to two queen beds. The food is outstanding, but a bit pricey. The best feature for me was the location, right outside the gate of the palace. It was a 5 minute walk to the grounds of the palace, about 15 minutes to the palace. My only complaint was the maid cleaning the room at 3 p.m. The staff at the hotel was wonderful, giving directions and recommending places to eat. We visited in March, so did not see the grounds at their peak, but I am sure it is even more beautiful in spring.

Wonderful hotel. We are very fussy travelers, but could not find any faults. The accomodation was huge, with an equally large bathroom. Our room overlooked the Versaille parkland and was so quite you could hear the sheep munching the grass. The location of the hotel is ideal for visiting the Palace of Versaille , as we were. The food in the hotel although pricey was also of a high standard. The staff were friendly and helpful. Can highly recommend the hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for room in the main building, overlooking the park.

I'm a two star hotel kinda girl. But when it came time to select a hotel for my 15th wedding anniversary getaway - without kids - I knew I wanted something special. This hotel did not disappoint.

When we arrived, out bags were quickly taken away (thankfully to re-appear once we got up to our room). Check-in was quick and easy and someone offered to show us around. I had purchased a package on thalasseo.com that included breakfast and an upgraded room. We had a deluxe king garden view room. I knew from reading reviews on tripadvisor that our room would be in the main building. It is not clear from the hotel website that the "classic" rooms are in the other building, which clearly lacks the charm of the main building.

Our room was huge, spacious and well-decorated. I loved the mirrored cabinet that opened to a mini-bar. The extra-wide bed was very comfortable and was turned down in the evening. The tub is deep and the bathroom floor seems heated. The shower has an overhead rain-type shower head, which I don't like. It is very difficult to wash shampoo and conditioner out of longer hair with this softer type of spray. There's a second shower head which worked a little better, but not much.

The spa and pool area is beautiful. I was surprised at how warm the pool water was. Overall, very peaceful and relaxing. My only disappointment is that while the pool is big and comfortable, the towels are not. We only received one each (not enough to dry off after swimming) and couldn't find anyone or any place to get more. Fortunately, the hotel provides robes, which helped keep us from dripping everywhere.

Breakfast the first day was great. The server was attentive, food delicious. The second day was very different. I didn't get orange juice until the very end, our dirty dishes weren't removed during our meal (they piled up on the table) and my omelette was only so-so. I was glad we were not paying full price for the breakfast. But overall, it was still good. I do have to agree with other reviewers that a hotel of this caliber should offer a selection of tea at breakfast.

Overall, I would highly recommend this hotel. It is expensive, but we felt worth it for this special occasion.

This hotel was absolutely fantastic - we were totally blown away. As Gold HHonours members, we were greeted with some complimentary macarons and water, a drink at the bar and a free movie, which we thoroughly enjoyed! Throughout our stay, every single member of staff was impeccably polite, from the bellboys to the waiters, and were very helpful in every eventuality. The concierge was always available to help us with booking tickets and visiting local restaurants.

The room itself was lovely. With traditional decor, beautiful bathroom and very comfortable beds it was lovely! The bathroom floor was heated, which added that extra bit of comfort which we greatly appreciated after a long day travelling! The view too was very nice.

Definitely worth a visit, whatever the cost. The facilities (hammam, pool, sauna, gym, spa etc) are top-notch too. Slightly disappointing was the leaking hot tap on the bath and broken reading light, but otherwise everything was perfect.

Room Tip: Ask to stay in the Palace as opposed to the Pavillion.

Unfortunately we only spent 1 night here but it was gorgeous. The hotel was exquisite and the bedrooms very comfortable, spacious and elegant. The staff were very helpful. Very nice pool & spa. Also very convenient for a visit to the palace of Versailles. Perfection.
