“Pleasant stay but...”

This two story rental is not bad value and the people who rent it are reasonably professional and helpful However, you should know a few things.

Sleeps 6? Well, technically it could I suppose, but there are only 2 bedrooms (one king size bed and 2 single beds in the other room), and only one bathroom downstairs (where the shower is, which is odd - you have to bring clothes up and down stairs). There is one bio toilet upstairs and they tell you it is only for peeing and no paper is allowed. It sounds like a garburator when flushed.... Really, only 4 fit in this small place.

Location: On a small street in the middle of things. Very noisy. The first level is right on the street. I mean, RIGHT ON THE STREET. If you stick your hand out the window, you will punch passersby in the nose. And be careful coming down for your shower, since, the room is right ... well you get it.

"Design" concept. The place is dark, industrial and a bit macabre. Weird art (although the sculptures are fun) with poured contrete floors and that "old building damp" smell. I am not sure throwing in a couple of flea market bistro chairs and broken down furniture makes it "design". They have put in new beams and windows and the bedroom upstairs and the (tiny) bathrooms are modern, but why anyone would invest all that money and leave the furnishings in such poor condition is unclear.

The bedroom upstairs is designed for hobbits. Most of the room is mounted on a platform that leaves you with less than 4 feet of space. You have to go around on on all fours or seriously crouch. Very odd.

And then there are the stairs. Tiny, ancient, uneven, slippery and sloping. Seriously dangerous. Not for kids.

So... a sort of fun and interesting place, they have obviously tried to work with what they have, but it is not a very comfortable space.

Management Response
10 Feb 2017
These remarks about our flat are just unfair. Our flat is apreciated on many other sites because it is out of the ordinary. It combines modern equipment with an old staircase, a wall with stones. The flat has been totally redecorated and modernized. I suppose the person who wrote this commentary does not appreciate works of art. This commentary does not refer to the location of our flat: it gives onto a very quiet street and is close to many shops and art galleries. And in Le Marais, people enjoy wandering in the streets. Any way, the description and the photos of the flat show what it looks like. If you rent it, it is because you love art, Le Marais lifestyle.
