Having been to Vietnam a few years ago and having absolutely loved Vietnamese food all around, Co Tu was recommended to us by friends in Paris who had tried it a few times. It did not disappoint, but the dishes were not as memorable as the ones we had had back there. The portions were large, the cuisine was colorful and flavorful, presentation was ok but somehow all this lacked a bit of authenticity and some "uplifting". For example the sticky rice (which in fact was never on any menu in Vietnam), which I bet was not the sticky variety but had been helped by the addition of coconut milk or the likes. Would I go back to Co Tu? Yes, if I am in the neighborhood but I wouldn't go out of my way for it.

We'd had enough French food and wanted to try something different. Paris is suposed to be good for Vietnamese food so thought we would try this place to give it a go.
It was OK, but I didn't discern anything distinctive about Vietnamese food from this experience. Seemed to be much like Chinese takeaway food. And there was definitely the ping of a microwave going off in the kitchen.
But at least they were open on a Monday night. And not cheap.

In a very relaxed setting, the restaurant serves up classic Vietnamese favorites like Pho and fresh spring rolls as well as my favorites, the salt and pepper calamari and anything else salt and pepper. One of our favorite places to go for simply good food. It's small, and they pack in the tables, but somehow it manages to work even when they are full at lunch time.

This Vietnamese restaurant was highly recommended to us, and we now understand why. The food was flavorful, the service excellent, and the value superbe. My favorite dish was an entree of seche sel et poivre (salt & pepper calamari). We are looking forward to our next meal there.
