“A French Experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 January 2014

I checked Trip Advisor before departing the US and found this gem within a block of my hotel. My cousin and I had our choice of tables upstairs on a Wed. at 11:30 AM - but within an hour every seat was taken (one by an adorable greyhound). We opted for a chalkboard menu special - Alsatian-inspired sausages and potatoes. The hearty fare fit our bill on that January day. The owner/waitress allowed us to share the meal and she kindly provided an extra plate. This meant we had room for dessert. That cherry cake was delectable! Wash it down with a glass of house red. Ahhh....you gotta love a country where house wines are reliably delicious. It was sad to go...like leaving a friend's house.

“Get the old school Parisian treatment here”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 December 2013

The décor is as if you walked back in time some 50 years. The clientèle is a mix of young and old, students, shoppers, tourists. Prices at the zinc are reasonable; twice as high when you sit down at a table. But the service is so rude and anti-social, it is almost laughable. Because I didn't want to get into a fight with the lady who refused to make us a sandwich, I thought it better to walk out. If you are looking to become a "Parisian in one hour", Le Rubis is a mandatory stop on your itinerary.

“A Great Afternoon Stop”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 December 2013

I stopped by this afternoon for a late light lunch. Although it was past the end of their lunch time (3:30), the gentleman was kind enough to bring us a delightful charcuterie plate with two nice glasses of red, all at less than 20 Euros. This is a great place to stop in for a leisurely afternoon with sandwiches as well as meat and cheese selections and a wide ranging offering of wines by the glass. The charm is in the old Parisian feel of the place. This is a quick walk off Rue St Honore close to the Louvre

“An old school basic bistro”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 November 2013

Le Rubis is a rustic, no frills, bistro that is both basic and charming. The food is simple, solid, and good. We had a rillette to start out on a cold, rainy Parisian day and it was perfect. Next was oeufs mayonnaise which was amazing. We then finished with sausage, potatoes, and a Dijon mustard. They had a house Cote du Rhone that was wonderful and very reasonable and we were warm, happy, and full at the end of this meal. This is no tourist location, they don't speak English, and everyone around us seemed to be regulars. It was wonderful to be in a local's lunch spot on a side street away from the glamour of the Rue de Rivoli. At the end of our meal we had a coffee standing at the wine barrels by the front door and just soaked up the neighborhood as it came to life after lunch. This place is warm, friendly, and fun and we highly recommend it for lunch!

“Good simple French food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 31 October 2013

Ditto what everyone else is saying. We had spent the morning at the Louvre and were looking for a good simple lunch. I knew we needed to get off ttehmaindrag, and we found this place by chance. The food was very good, simple, and hit the spot. The waitress was helpful and did a good job deciphering my husband's pathetic attempts at French. We. will go back here for dinner one night..
