I booked this hotel for our second trip to Paris this 2016. I used the Place de la Nation as our base to travel throughout Paris as the Metro here is very connected which means less transfers/changes.
Place de la Nation is a lovely 'place' it had bars and restaurants and was buzzing with Parisians going about their daily lives.
The hotel Camelia Prestige is not very prestige. It's nicely decorated but tries to imitate a more classier hotel than it actual is, which gives off a vibe of insincerity.
The rooms in Paris are usually small by most city standards but this room was like a shoe box. A tiny square room with a tiny little box with a door on in the corner. The box was your toilet / basin / shower. You could literally use the loo while cleaning your teeth and have a shower at the same time.
The bed was the new type of foam mattress things that last 6 months, the pillows were made of nothing, put your head on one and it feels like there's nothing supporting you.
The television did not work at all, no channels worked just a black screen.
The shower head and fixings were falling apart and I had to try and mend them, but they required replacing so they fell apart after one use.
The staff at the hotel were OK, but through our 4 night stay we only encountered a friendly one as we checked out.
Would I stay in Place de la Nation again? YES
Would I stay at Hotel Camelia Prestige again? NO
