This apartment is exceptional for Paris by any standard. For one thing, it is enormous: 135 sq mt. It is located in an old, but well maintained building with a reliable elevator, a 2-door security system on the ground floor, and nicely outfitted stairways (with carpeting, which really cuts down the stairway noise). This is a top-notch, high-end residential building, which is unusual for a vacation rental. (We didn't notice any other short-term units in the building.) And the spacious, well-designed interior of the apartment lives up to expectations. With all the windows and light, this apartment must be breezy and wonderful in the warmer weather.
But, of course, the thing that really stands out about this apartment is that is on the 7th floor, above most other nearby buildings, offering a clear view of Notre Dame, the Tour Eiffel, and the Tour Montparnasse. We would set our watches by the hourly few minutes when the Tour Eiffel "goes sparkly" with its LED light show.
Being on the 7th floor, the last floor and a half is on foot, so this apartment is not ideal for folks with mobility problems.
We like to cook, and the kitchen is very well equipped. It has oodles of storage space and place settings for 8 (at least). The 3-hob range is a bit limiting, however. But everything you need is there. There are 3 boulangeries within a block. I preferred the one just to the north on the rue de Rennes. This is an area of clothing shops, so we didn't find any nearby butchers or cheese mongers. However, Le Grand Epicerie is 10 minutes walk, and they have absolutely everything you could want. Bonus: there is a Patrick Roger chocolate store 2 doors from the apartment.
Internet access worked flawlessly for us. And, the apartment has a telephone that allows free calls to the US and other countries.
The master bedroom has a tub, and the other bedroom a shower. There are two separate WCs. The washing machine (in 3rd separate closet) works well. There also is a dryer (!) which works about as well as all dryers that don't have external venting (e.g., don't be in a hurry).
As other have said, there are 3 metro stations on 3 different lines within 5 minutes walk, so getting anywhere is very easy. Many important sites are within walking distance (e.g., St. Germain-des-Pres, Invalides, Luxembourg Gardens, Cluny Museum).
All this doesn't come cheap. The apartment is well above our normal budget, and we got a good rate because of the off-season. Still, Paris is an expensive city. In this case, you get what you pay for. It would have ben more affordable with another couple ... there is more than enough room.
And finally, we found Glam@Paris to be very easy to deal with, and extremely helpful. We had to change rental dates at a very late date, and our agent Paul worked hard to find some alternatives. We were cheerfully greeted at the apartment as expected, and our departure meeting was uneventful as well. We did have a problem with the hot water on Nov. 1 which is a holiday. The agency owner came personally to fix the problem! I would not hesitate to rent from Glam@Paris again!
