It’s €20 to get up to the observatory but it’s worth it. 360° views of the whole city and the best vantage point for the Eiffel Tower. There’s snacks and a bar up there as well.

Make sure you take your camera up here. It is no exaggeration to say that you can see all of Paris, the views are amazing. The queues to get in have been shorter that the Eiffell tower ever time I have gone. One negative was that the people working in the cafe just ignored me when I waited to be served! Still the raiting is for the experience of being so high
This visit was recommended to us and I am so glad it was. We left the Eiffel Tower alone and opted for this visit instead. Easy to access, no queues to get in. Lift took us straight there. We arrived in the enclosed area and wandered round. We were slightly underwhelmed. Bit grubby. We then noticed an entrance going up to another area and asked if we were allowed up there and staff said 'of course'. We walked up two flights if stairs and we were very pleased we did. It was an enclosed glass structure. Unobstructed views over all of Paris. Champagne bar one end, full bar the other. They also serve food but we didnt see or have any. Little fake garden area. DJ playing some good music. There was a young party atmosphere. In the middle area were some huge telescopes set up for night time viewing. We watch the sunset. We watched the Eiffel Tower light up and shimmer at 10pm. The only down side was the lack of seating. There is seating but big groups of youngsters having a great night out had completely taken over them. I would say that maybe there should be a limit to the amount of people up there at any one time as it was very busy. We are tall so able to see over others. The only down side was that as it closes at 11pm there was a long long long queue to get the lift down. People start to leave after the Eiffel Tower finishes its shimmer show at 10.05pm. Be prepared to wait a long time to leave.
We visited 9pm ish to see the sunset. It was absolutely packed with people crowding around the viewpoints 3 or 4 people deep. The roof bar was even worse. Very expensive for tickets too when you can pay just ten euros to go up the Eiffel Tower. Booo.
Hi Jessy,
Thank you for sharing your experience with us.
Indeed, our Observation Deck was crowded the night you came because of the "Night of the stars" event. Many people want to see stars and sky through telescopes from the top of Montparnasse and also, many people came to enjoy sunset and Eiffel Tower shinning. You came during a special night and we are truly sorry that you did not like your experience.
You have to pay 25.5€ to get on top of the Eiffel Tower, and obviously, you won't have the best view of Paris because you won't see the Eiffel Tower :)
Sincerely,
Marketing Team
We visited at sunset on a summer's evening. There was a bit of queueing to get in and we were fortunate to have prepaid for tickets (did it the same day on the website - it means that you can go in the fastrack lane) as it looked as though they were turning away people who were hoping to pay on the door. Within 30 minutes we were through security and up at the top. The elevator stops at the 56th floor and then you walk up a couple of flights of stairs to the very top. You are literally on top of the tower with the sky above you and there's a DJ and bar and a lovely party atmosphere with several hundred people up there. There's glass all around the sides, but there are slots in it on each side for the telescopes, allowing you get clear shots with your camera. It's busy, so grab your place at the front 20 minutes before sunset and be patient. The view on a beautiful summer's evening as the sun sank below the horizon and the lights of the Eiffel Tower came on was stunning. It really was perfect and was heading for 6 out of 5 on Trip Advisor! After the Eiffel Tower lightshow at 10pm we decided, along with a good number of other people to descend. There was already a long queue of a couple of hundred people for the elevator and it appeared to have caught staff unaware as it snaked around the room, blocking the toilets and one of the other staircases. The queue moved slowly and after 10 minutes we had covered perhaps a fifth of the way to the elevator. At this point the queue just stopped and didn't move for around 15 minuted without any explanation from the staff (who were noticeable by their absence). A fight nearly broke out and tempers became very frayed with lots of people pushing in, using the visit to the toilet (near the front of the queue as cover). At this point the queue had grown from when we joined it and was now backing up the stairs to the viewing deck. Eventually staff reappeared and queue moved - in total it probably took us an hour to get down, but the lack of management, the arguing and the unexplained really took the shine off what was otherwise and amazing experience.
Hello,
Thank you for sharing your experience with us. We are truly sorry that your visit end up this way.
Indeed, our Observation Deck was very crowded the night you came because of the "Night of the stars" event. Many people want to see stars and sky throw the telescopes from the top of Montparnasse and also, many people came to enjoy sunset and Eiffel Tower shinning. Unfortunately, two of our elevators stop working during this night, so it takes, as you said, a long time to get all people down.
We would like to express our deepest regret for the inconvenience.
Sincerely,
Marketing team
Great view totally recommend it, you get a great view of the Eiffel Tower and surrounding area. I went on a clear day and could see for miles.
