Nice room (#2 in courtyard) w/decent amount of space for Paris. Quite clean. Took several attempts to get full complement of towels etc. FYI wash cloths seem to be quite rare in French hotels; after special request they provided homemade ones. Disconcerting when discovered our door would not lock from the inside… When asked the front desk – “oh yes, we’ll fix that in the morning”. It was fixed the next day, but quite odd they didn’t point it out to us.

Front desk staff quite nice and helpful. One helped me make theater reservations, another advised us on which metro entrance was handiest w/luggage and how long it would take to get to Gare de l’Est.

Handy to have computer w/internet in lobby (NB: different keyboard layout than in US!)… particularly as wifi did not work in our room! One staffer's response - "oh, it works for everyone else" - was not helpful.

Great location – quiet side street very near place de la Bastille, easy walking distance to the Seine, place des Vosges.

We partook of in-house breakfast thelast morning. 11 euros I think, for a decent spread (more for your money than at a café).

The convenience of this hotel made our trip. Originally we were going to stay further out for cheaper but so happy we stayed in Castex. The staff were really friendly, in fact everyone we met in Bastille were friendly, the rooms clean, comfortable and quiet. True the rooms are small and a bit dated but the area is fab, with a lively ambience and loads of bar and restaurants to choose from. Check out the bar a few doors down and the Sunday market. Lovely walk to Pere Lachaise and Notre Dame.

The staff were incredibly helpful, and always happy to accommodate. Thanks for helping to organize the PSG tickets, you made my son's birthday very special. The location is great, very close to the Metro which made getting around Paris easy.

I visited this hotel at the weekend with three other girls from Ireland. We all had nothing but good things to say about the hotel. The staff were very, very friendly and couldn't have been more helpful. The rooms were clean and neat and the beds very comfortable. It had a real Parisian feel. The rooms were a bit small but this is normal for any large touristy city. The location is great, about 15/20 mins walk from Notre Dame. You could walk to the Louvre in less than 45 mins or the metro (line 1) is only about 3 mins walk away. Bastille is a great place to stay generally. Plenty of night life and great cafes and restaurants (but the centre of these on Rue Roquette is far enough away (about 5-10mins walk) that you'll get a good night's sleep. The restaurants are reasonably enough priced around here compared to the ones on the Champs Elysees for example. We also felt very safe walking around Bastille at night. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone.

This hotel was recommended to us by a friend who visits Paris often for pleasure. We traveled with our two, grown daughters and it was perfect. The two rooms were entered through a private hallway entrance which could be locked as could the two separate rooms which were across from one another in your own, private area. Clean, friendly, helpful staff, quiet, beautiful part of Paris, close to a Metro which is very easy to figure out, AC, two separate bathrooms (ours had a great bathtub) and at a great price-need I say more! Thank you Castex!
