This museum is housed in a mansion built in the early 1900's. Interestingly, it had modern bathrooms & kitchen facilities but the design of the house was based on classical design from the 18th century. M. Camondo was a wealthy banker and collector of magnificent furniture & accessories who built the house to showcase his collections of Louis XV. & Louis XVI items. Motto be missed; never a crowd. This s what the interiors of Versailles SHOULD look like!

I have to admit that I had not heard of this museum prior to a recent organised visit to Paris.
It is well worth a visit and is easily served by metro stations. It was a family home of a family of Turkish bankers who moved to Paris,It has a marvellous collection of treasures collected by member states of the family.
Our guide was very enthusiastic. Well worth a visit

I loved the 18th century style architecture. The 18th century antiques get a little boring and heavy. I wouldn't bother with a guide tour.

Interesting and off the beaten path. A gorgeous collection of 18th century art and furnishings collected by a financier at the beginning of the 20th century and set into a beautiful mansion built at the time in the 18th century tale. An interesting and tragic family history. Nice and free audio guide. Excellent restaurant next door by same name.

If you like the Wallace Collection in London or the Frick Collection in New York, you will enjoy this smaller collection in Paris. It was collected by a banker who had the mansion built to house it and who bequeathed it to the public in 1917 to honour his son. The Marquesses of Hertford would have liked the bed with three headboards that does not seem to be intended for sleeping in.
