As an Accor Elite, I try to stay at a property managed by them. Paris has hundreds under their management. I wanted to book one, which has walking distance to the metro, as well as the famous Galeries Lafayette store, as I was planning to do some shopping.
The surrounding neighborhood has couple of mini-markets and lots of restaurants and bars along Rue La Fayette. The metro (Cadet) is few blocks away.
The front desk staff were very polite and courteous. They booked museum tickets in advance so that one can avoid the lines.
Pros: The room was better than one's I have stayed in other cities. It was bigger, and the bed was slightly more comfortable than one's I had in Asia. The bathroom was definitely more spacious than tiny ones in New Delhi and Singapore.
Being in a side lane, it was quiet. The room overlooked the alley.
Cons: This property unlike others I have stayed, had no mini refrigerator or a in room safe. The corridor in the floor was narrow and elevator was tiny. Normally, as an Elite I am given a welcome drink; there was none offered.
The breakfast room was in the level below and offerings were sparse.
Since it was raining most of my stay, I spent lots of time at the museums. It is high recommended if one wants to go to the famous department stores Galeries Lafayette, Printemps along Rue La Fayette.More
