The personnel was very helpfull, the rooms were clean and comfort, there was an elevator and it was working!!!! The hotel is near the Opera House and very close to La Fayette Galleries. You can find small cafes and snack bars around the hotel. There is metro station a few seconds away. We didn't take breakfast but as i took a look it waa poor for my taste.

Room Tip: 2nd floor was a bit noise cause of the metro

I came with wife and 2 small children age 4 & 6. I reserved via booking.com for triple room. The hotel was generous enough to upgrade us to quad room at top floor (6th floor) free-of- charge after few email communications considering that we would need a quite room to rest. The room is sizeable and confortable for 4 of us, very quite at night. The free wifi is a big plus point. service is generally good. convenient store is by the doorstep and it opens early at 7am everyday. Launderette is within walking distance. restaurant serving hallal food is plentiful nearby (all accessible by foot). Public transport (Roissybus to CDG airport), metro & double decker tour bus is nearby. The infamous Lafayette & Printemps Shopping mall is nearby. This is unmistakenly the right choice of hotel for me.

Great location but not for light or moderate sleepers. Traffic on the main street is loud all night, I was even staying on the 4th floor! If that wasn't enough, the walls are paper thin, the room next door had a guy snoring all night that sounded like he was right there. It does prove however someone slept well...

Service and breakfast was good, but cannot recommend unless you request and get a room well off the main street...not sure its possible.

Room Tip: Dont stay in room overlooking the main street!

Well - the location - you cannot argue this is in a fantastic location, but by no means is this a 4 star. I would be hesitant to give it 2 stars, let alone 4.

Feels dingy, yet clearly thety have spent money on the reception, thus lulling you in to thinking that this is a half decent place. The bathrooms seem quite new, TV reception is atrocious and locks on the doors are anything but secure - nor are the locks on the balcony doors/windows come to that.

Shattered glass on the mirrored "wardrobe" doors and scratch marks all down the tasteful yellow wallpaper.

Staff were welcoming & helpful, that's my second positive. Oh and the bed was quite comfortable.

The noise from the metro is pretty bad as well. Cutlery and glasses not very clean at breakfast.

How people get away with hotels like this in 2011 is beyond me. Could be amazing, but is totally awful. One to avoid.

We stayed at the Excelsior Opera for 6 days in a triple roomm. The room was surprisilgy bigger then we expected, knowing the size standards rooms in Paris. The elevator is really small. It fits the maximun of only three persons. My wife loved the location, since it was just some steps from Galerie Lafayette, Opera Garnier and also close to Metro and RER train stations, so it was very easy to go to the main attractions of the city. The staff was very polite and helpfull and one of the front dask staff speaks portuguese, what was very convenient for my wife and child, who don't speak french or english. Breakfest was poor, with little options for the price. With the same amount of money, we had excellent breakfest just across the street.
