“Great small modern hotel in a lively neighbourhood from which to explore and experience all of Paris.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 May 2012

A visitor to this hotel will experience a real working Paris neighbourhood. Expect a lively neighbourhood full of a variety of local cafes and restaurants.
The staff were always courteous and helpful, even when I attempted to murder their language with my limited and clumsy French.
The rooms were small, which is normal for Paris, but they were new, modern and well appointed and everything worked. Guests were supplied with an ipad to access all the hotel and local area information and anything from the Internet, this proved very helpful. Also to our surprise the tariff included mini bar and all local and international landline telephone calls.
The hotel is close, within 5 minutes walk, to 2 metro stations so it was quick and cheap, to get to almost everywhere in the city.
Overall really enjoyable and intimate. Highly recommended.

Le Citizen suited us perfectly - calm, peaceful, comfort, and very pleasant ,helpful staff. It seemed that nothing was too much trouble.
Not exactly off the beaten track as the Canal attracts hordes of young people enjoying al fresco night life, where you can have pizza delivered to you as you picnic! (ask about the Pink Flamingo for details). Its not the most obvious part of town to stay but so much better for it.
The City K room is spacious , with the most comfortable, huge bed, and lots of little touches that add up to making the guest feel very much at home. Breakfast is excellent , as are the little cakes delivered daily to your room!

We would certainly stay again.

Stayed here for my first trip abroad with my girlfriend, an excellent experience. Smart, modern and friendly. I am sincerely glad I chose Le Citizen for my first trip to Paris.

I really didn't want to write a review but I'm sure that the secret will come out eventually.

Our fantastic experience started even before our arrival and check-in. Communication with the front desk (Thanks John for letting me know that I hold the most email exchanges from your previous guests) was prompt and informative, emails and queries were quickly answered and made sure that our numerous requests were met, including request for high floor.

As for the rooms, we stayed 3 nights at the Zen Suite and the City Room L. Zen Suite 66 was bright, cheery and dreamy, big by Parisian standard, offers great views of the canal, Sacre Couer to the right, and a bit of the Eiffel Tower, and one of, if not, the most comfortable bed. The banquet next to the windows was a great place to just lie down and gaze outside the canal and watch people pass by.

The thought of transferring to the City Room L after the suite might proved to be disappointing but we were still surprised with the size.

Breakfast, minibar, local and long-distance calls all included. That proved to be great. It wasn't continental breakfast either but home-made yogurts, parfait, fresh fruits, crusty breads, eggs anyway you want, smoked salmon toasts, fresh OJ and great coffee.

Gaela, with concierge, was helpful in booking and securing our dinner reservations though I didn't get to personally meet her.

Hotel is located in one of our favorite neighborhoods in Paris, not touristy, maybe a bit far especially if it's your first time, but convenient enough to a couple of Metro stations, including Gare de l'Est. The canal is a great place to have a quick picnic, catch the setting sun while sipping red wine. Close to a couple of great restaurants which will not be named, boutique shops, and a fantastic boulangerie.

Looking forward to our next stay.

Room Tip: Highest floor possible. Either Zen suite or the City Room L or K would be perfect for couples.
