We looked at 50 apartments online before settling on Beau de Beaubourg in the Marais and it was perfect in every way.
Our requirements: an approximately 45-50 m 1 bedroom apartment (we stayed for 15 nights & wanted space) in a typical French building with traditional architectural elements in a vibrant neighborhood, near a Metro stop (this is near 2), only one flight up from street level, walk in shower in the bathroom, comfortable seating in the living room and kitchen with washing machine. Beau de Beaubourg had it all plus all the charm you'd expect in the Marais and a consierge in the building. Fabulous!
We were met by a representative at the agreed-upon time & showed around the apartment. It was exactly as pictured on the website right down to every piece of furniture. The living-room/dining area were very spacious with a comfortable couch & chair and a good size table for meals.
This room had three typical Parisian windows, almost floor to ceiling, which made the apartment light-filled & airy. Since this apartment is at the front of the building it was noisy with the windows opened but when closed you had no idea of the crowds & cars below. There is also a cafe right below & the music was loud at night especially on the weekends.
The kitchen was small but had everything needed to prepare coffee/tea or meals if you wanted to cook. It was stocked as your own kitchen would be with cookware, dishes & glasses & cutlery - more than adequate.
The bathroom was modern with a large walk in shower & rain shower head which we enjoyed. The sink area was a great size too. Plenty of oversized towels was also a plus. The bedroom had a queen size bed & 4 pillows. This room also had a large window but had black-out curtains to assure a quiet & dark night.
We could tell that Beau Beaubourg was designed to be lived in. It had all the Parisian charm one could ask for but furnished & equiped for living not just visiting. So much better than a small over-priced hotel room for much less.
The neighborhood was perfect for exploring every arrondisement. Right out our door was the Pompidou Center, shops, cafes, bistrot, boulangeries, etc. Notre Dame cathedral was a short walk as was the historical part of the Marais. We even walked back from Montmartre one afternoon. Situated between 2 Metro stops, it's easy to traverse the city from this apartment.
