My husband and I stayed just one night during a road trip around the champagne region. I wish we could have stayed longer...the lovely rooms, ivy courtyard and nooks invite lingering around a bit longer. Location is excellent (provided early morning church bell chiming doesn't bother you). We stayed in just a standard room which was very spacious and retained the character of the original building while remaining comfortable - great bed. Only oddity was the bathroom had no shower, just a large soaking tub with a hand sprayer. Not a problem if you aren't in a hurry but it may be a bother for some folks.
We had dinner and breakfast at the hotel. Dinner was pricey but there are a la carte options if you don't want to do the full tasting menu and is a bit cheaper. Dining room was very intimate and chef himself served each dish which was a treat. Food was delicious and appropriately portioned. If you don't want to splurge on dinner, definitely splurge on breakfast. They had a wood fire burning in the breakfast room, lovely pastries, bread, homemade apple compote and eggs to order. Very elegant presentation - treat yourself!
It's not cheap but it is worth every penny for a romantic retreat. Do yourself a favor and stay at least two nights to get the full experience - it's the kind of place where time seems to stand still. More
