After a stressful year so far, my wife and I and two teenage daughters needed a break with some peace.
Juliet and Tim gave us a warm welcome and even gave us bread, jam, eggs and a bottle of wine, which was a wonderful gesture.
The accomodation was beautiful in a stunning area. We spent our evenings sat on the patio with a drink, and all you could hear were the crickets. The pool is clean and a great size and the kids used it constantly. We also made good use of the barbeque. The garden is huge and really well maintained.
Inside, the place is immaculately clean and comfortable with real character.
Tim and Juliet are on hand to help with anything and leave you be to enjoy your holiday.
A car is essential. The Saturday morning market in La Chatre (20 mins) is recommended and there are also a couuple of supermarkets there for all your essentials. We didn't venture too far but there are historical places to visit which do require a car.
I am a keen runner and used the tracks around the area to do some training which I really enjoyed. Bikers and walkers would love it.
Overall, if its a 'chill out' time you are looking for, this is it, and if you like to het in the car and explore, you will love it. Highly recommended.
A bit belated but we stayed at the Gite for 2 weeks in August, we are very particular with our taste of accommodation and also had the addition of our dog Kizzy to consider.
The pictures and description do not do this place justice. It has been lovingly restored to a very high standard by Tim and been furnished superbly by Juliette, the perfect hosts.
We love to self cater in France and everything you need in the gite is in there. The homemade cake and eggs were very welcome.
All we wanted was the tranquillity, the ability to completely unwind and do nothing but relax and read a book and this place was perfect and Kizzy loved it, she had the run of the place.
We have never returned to the same place twice for a summer holiday, but we are this year, back in July, for another relaxing two weeks so we cannot recommend it more than that.
The cottage was so well equipped and really clean, warm and friendly. Amazing views, so quiet and peaceful and with a small town and supermarkets, and traditional shops about 6km away. Real France and very rural. The hosts are very friendly and helpful. Great place for writers, artists or just a week of getting away from it all and even though it was very chilly in February we were really comfortable indoors. Would really recommend this for summer, spring or winter break away.
We stayed for a week here in November, and found a little piece of tranquility. The gite was clean, warm and comfortable and the views over the countryside were picturesque. There were a few days of late sunshine, so we sat outside and took in the garden - a little piece of paradise with climbing roses and lavender.
There are many local walks nearby, and we visited the local town of La Chatre, which had some good eating places (especially pizza) and historic buildings and churches.
Would highly recommend this place - Tim and Juliet were very welcoming and informative, so am looking to book again soon!
