Fantastic location in the medieval city of Loches, beautifully and lovely restored flat in an centuries-old house with wonderful atmosphere. Parking place in front of the house, ideal starting point for trips to the castles and abbeys of the Loire valley. Cafés, restaurants, small shops and market within a radius of 500m but very quiet and calm location. We felt very well cared for by our always helpful and friendly landlady Silvia. We will certainly come back and will recommend this place to our friends.
Woderful site with lovely garden, situated in the historic village, next to Loches-Castle as well as to the Renaissance-Village. Beautiful furnished appartent, quiet and clean. Unfortunately our vacation in this beautiful appartement ended too early-we booked for only 8 days. Thanks very much to Silvia, the landlady, for her hospitality and the warm welcome. On our arrival there was a bottle of wine and local specialties for us on the table. During our stay here in Loches we had the opportunity to visit different castles and gardens in the surroundings – very impressive. And above that we benefitted from the garden – the grapes and the figs were ripe, so we had a tasty supplement to all these great french food, e.g. available on the market (twice a week) in the nearby towncentre. We would like to come back another time. All the best wishes. Sybille & Thomas (from Siegburg, Germany)
My husband and I stayed here for 5 days. We chose the accommodation from looking at pictures its lovely wild garden and when we arrived we were not disappointed
Sylvia is a lovely lady, helpful and informative. The little welcome present consisting of jam pate and red wine was a lovely touch.
The rooms themselves were small but cosy. Their are numerous cafes and restaurants less than a 5 minute walk away but out of the 5 days we stayed, my husband and I ate out only once. The rest of the time dinner was in that lovely wild garden. What can be better than drinking a glass of wine and watching the sunset. Absolutely perfect!
We have travelled extensively but this is the only time that I have felt sad to leave and that says something not just about the property but also the person who created this little slice of heaven.
I would recommend a stay here if you visit Loche, which in itself is a lovely town.
Time stopped at la Villa de l'ancien Pigeonnier and you plunge into history, so take the time to appreciate every minute of your experience in Loches. The very well furnished tiny apartment is compensate by a large, quiet, relaxing and luxuriant garden where you will spend most of your time. It's location is best, you are at the doorstep of the castle, at the heart of the town historical quarter.
Loche is a town full of history and Sylvia's Villa a l'ancien Pigeonnier is nestled in the centre of it all, steps away from the castle walls. Town centre is only 5 minutes away, including several excellent bakeries. Inside the walled garden is a world of its own, filled with flowers, trees and vines, attracting insects and birds. Our teenage children were delighted to enter the garden via the winding steps within the dovecote. The meals we made in the apartment, we ate in that peaceful garden. Sylvia was kind enough to introduce us to plants and insects that we were unfamiliar with, and we left with some jars of her delicious jams. Thank you Sylvia for a wonderful visit.
