When we found this Chateau on the Internet something told us that it was the perfect place to stay in the Loire Valley. We were not disappointed.
The Chateau itself is beautiful with a rich and colourful history. Gael and Cecile explained the history of the Chateau and the region with such enthusiasm that it brought the place to life. We really felt that we were privileged to be staying staying somewhere very special.
We stayed in the Zeus room. It was large and very comfortable, beautifully decorated.
Gael and Cecile were wonderful hosts, they could not have done more to make us feel welcome. They clearly love the Chateau and wanted us to enjoy it as much as they do. Breakfast each morning was amazing.
One of the best features of the Chateau is its location. A short drive to many of the main sites of the region, the historic towns of Blois and Amboise, Chambord castle, Chenonceau castle etc. So much to see and do. The only problem was that we also wanted to spend time at the Chateau, exploring the grounds and sitting by the fire. We wished we had stayed for longer than two nights.

Dear Ron, dear Jackie,
Many thanks for your encouraging words. We were very happy to welcome you at the chateau des Grotteaux.
It's true that our location makes possible to visit the most famous castles of the Loire Valley (Chambord, Blois, Cheverny, Chaumont, Amboise...) by bicycle ! The Loire is also very close and amazing.
We hope that you will be able to stay longer when you will come back ! to have more time to enjoy the large swimming pool, the tennis and the parc.
All the best for you and your children.
Our warm regards.

Ones we got into this walled garden through the huge doors, the outside world has disappeared. It is such a beautiful place, lovingly restored and furnished. Both Gael and Cecile welcomed us with hot drinks in the drawing room in front of an ancient fireplace which accommodated a ceramic stove. The history of the Chateau is fascinating and the portrait of the original owner still hangs on the chimney breast. You must listen the story from the owners, since they tell it with such enthusiasm and depth. Our room ‘Zeus’ was a gift from the gods, so comfortable, warm and the windows opened to a River Loire just at the back of the Chateau and vineyards were insight beyond. It was so quiet so we felt we were the only people staying there but next morning we have realised all rooms were full. Breakfast was heavenly and I think Cecile has a lot to do with this. Gateaus, cakes and the bread, yummm.... There are amazing Chateau’s to visit during the day. They are all mesmerising structures and each has a history and family background of its own. We had such wonderful meals during our stay in Loire Valley. One of them was Michelin starred chef Christophe Hay’s La Maison d’a Cote in Montlivault. Heavenly food. It was a very short stay of 2.5 days in Chateau des Grotteaux but we will definitely go back there many many times in the future. Thank you Gael and Cecile for all your hard work. ❤️

We stayed there only for one night but it was one of the best hotel experiences. The Chateau was in a great condition with the most beautiful interior. There was a beautiful drawing room where we enjoyed a cup of tea and admired the decorations. Breakfast was excellent with a lot of alternatives. We felt well treated and we are absolutely going back! We stayed in couple chateaus during our stay in the Loire Walley and this one was the best!!

Our recent visit to Paris as well as outside Paris turned out a very memorable one. Our Son with his girlfriend booked this incredible hotel (Chateau des Grotteaux) for one night only because the hotel rooms were already booked for another night.

We were greeted by this incredible couple (owners) who were very informative about the rich history of their Chateau which was built by some very wealthy person to use as a library for his huge collection of books some 600 hundred years ago.Needless to say that we were fascinated by the presentation the owner made which made us feel very important. They showed us the hotel from outside and inside and we were offered some very delicious green tea as well as some very tasty sweets.

The hotel being recently renovated was in excellent condition. The rooms were very spacious and updated to reflect the current state of the art in accommodation. We were especially intrigued by the names of the rooms where we stayed. One was called Zeus and the other Poseidon. The view from inside the rooms was spectacular facing the river with some marvelous trees that make you feel as if you were living in Paradise.

The night was very pleasant. We slept right through in complete silence all around us till morning. Before breakfast we took a walk in this incredible estate and explore those beautiful trees and wild flowers that were growing on the ground.

After that we had breakfast that was full of delicious fruits, nuts, dry fruits, and much more to list here. Outdoors there was a beautiful swimming pool and a kitchen which make it ideal to book the whole Chateau for special occasions (Such as weddings, etc). If we visit France again for sure we would like to stay longer and experience all what this historical place has to offer.

Room tip: I think all rooms are great. Rooms that have windows facing the river are the best.

We absolutely loved staying here. It was so peaceful and relaxing, and the breakfast was delicious! After we left, we kept commenting how we wished we could have stayed longer because it was the best sleep we had on our entire trip. I could not recommend this place enough. We hope we can return in the next few years for an anniversary trip!
