Charming hotel on the bank of the river Vienne. We stayed here for 4 nights and it is a 5 minute walk from the old centre of Chinon with it’s beautiful fortress and lots of shops and restaurants. We had a lovely room, very tastefully furnished. There were a few things which would have made our stay perfect though. Firstly there are no tea or coffee making facilities in the room so if, like me, you are caffeine dependent, you have to wait until breakfast. Secondly, the door to our en suite bathroom was made of frosted glass so you need to be on extremely friendly terms with your companion, otherwise using the loo could be embarrassing! There is no parking allocated to the hotel guests but there is a free car park a few minutes walk away. Breakfast was between 7.30 - 9.30 which feels a bit early when you are on holiday. I needed gluten-free bread and cereal which the hotel didn’t provide so I had to bring my own, but I get the impression that allergies and intolerances are not generally catered for in France in the way they are in the UK. Overall it is a nice hotel, and a good location for exploring the beautiful town of Chinon.
