A clean and tidy home run and owned by the neighbours. Bernadette was lovely, her English very good (our French was not) and she made us a homemade cake and quiche during our stay which was much appreciated. The swimming pool took it from an average 3 star holiday home to a touch of luxury in the country, becuase it is so well maintained and covered it is very clean and inviting. It was also pretty warm, especially on hot days. You share the pool with the owners and the anyone staying in their other gite (max 2). The house itself was pretty well equipped, would benefit from some more sturdy pillows (bring your own if your fussy about your pillows!).
The owners are clearly environmentally conscious and you pay for any additional electricity over 10KW a day. We didn't need too but just be warned. You also leave a 250Euro deposit and need to leave the place as you found it (I.e. Do the cleaning). We didn't mind this, but again just be aware as you'll need to leave a couple of hours at the end of holiday to get it up to scratch. Also remember to let them know if you have kids coming, when we booked for some reason it had sent them a note saying it was two people but we took our three year old daughter. This shouldn't haven't been a problem as there are two bedrooms, but it was made clear that we had to be clearer about this if we booked again.
Location wise it's pretty good, near quite a few good chateaus and the area is very quiet so if you are looking for somewhere to wind down and relax, this will be pretty spot on. The backgarden is completely enclosed and not overlooked and there is a nice, clean barbecue for use. The garden is completely flat so good for games, but lots of clover which attracts the bees so we didn't let our daughter go barefoot.
The owners obviously give a lot of care and attention to the gardens, their own properties gardens are absolutely beautiful.
Thank you Claude and Bernadette for your hospitality.
