1 review Lovely traditional french farmhouse in a beautiful rural setting. The house was spotless and furnished to a very high standard. Gillian went out of her way to assist with ideas for activities and day trips. It is a fantastic place for either relaxing by the pool sunbathing or enjoying the vast amount of sights and activities available in the Pyrenees-Atlantiques region. We were very sad to leave!

This was our second holiday at Les Vieux Chenes, having previously been there in 2015, and it remains an outstanding and well-appointed destination. The accommodation is spacious and well-equipped, and it is a great bonus to have exclusive use of a good-sized pool. The owner is very knowledgeable of the local area, and provides helpful advice and suggestions about things to do and places to visit. The meal that she offers on the first night is to be highly recommended. For the keen cyclist, there are plenty of local routes and, for the more ambitious, several mountain climbs, many of which regularly feature in the Tour de France, within easy reach. Doubtless we will be returning again soon.

Eight of us enjoyed dinner bed and breakfast for four nights whilst visiting the Pau 4* Horse Trials.
What a find !!! Lovely house and surroundings, BRILLIANT home cooked food with wine and hosts for whom nothing was too much trouble. Gillian even pilotted us to the Horse Trials venue ( 20km distant) on the busy Saturday via back roads to avoid the traffic- a great help.
Unreservedly recommend this accommodation, book and enjoy......

This is not the easiest place to find, but WOW! When you do!!
What a fantastic home, amazing grounds, and wonderful location. Gillian and her husband made us feel very welcome and were the perfect hosts. We traveled around the beautiful countryside and villages around the area and the home made a great base. Nicely appointed, great sized rooms, and very comfortable. My wife and Daughter and I always like to stay somewhere different each time we visit Europe, but if we were traveling to this area again, there is no question where we would stay.

My wife, teenage son and I had a wonderful fortnight's holiday at Les Vieux Chenes. The property is located in a lovely, tranquil setting, but is in easy reach of two sizable towns for the morning baguette and croissants run. It provides very good quality accommodation, including a larger pool than usual for a rental property. There was plenty for us to do, and the owner, Gillian, was particularly helpful in advising us about hiring a bike for my son (a keen road cyclist) and suggesting routes for him. The meal that Gillian provided on our day of arrival was excellent.
