We enjoyed our visit to La Bidonne. The directions to the house were very clear and easy to follow. The house is excellent with a double height sitting room and large kitchen diner for relaxed sociable cooking and eating. The master suite is also beautiful with great views especially at sunset. The pool is below the house and was enjoyed by all. The fig tree was dripping with fruit during our stay and was another highlight for fresh breakfasts!
The area has a range of village markets and sights to visit as well as good access to canoeing in the river. Overall highly recommended.
La Bidonne is a spacious, comfortable farmhouse located in a stunning, peaceful setting with views towards Saussignac chateau. The swimming pool is large and well positioned below the house. It is a great base to explore the wine-growing region of Bergerac, with top quality restaurants and bastide towns located nearby.
La Bidonne is a wonderful place to stay.
The location is stunning, with beautiful views across the valley to the village of Saussignac, the swimming pool, on a lower terrace, was a great size and depth and provided endless hours of entertainment for the children. La Bidonne is at least a quarter of a mile from its nearest neighbour, which means that the children can splash and play as noisily as they like in the evenings without fear of disturbing anyone.
The house itself is spacious and well appointed. The huge, double height, sitting room is comfortably furnished, we didn't spend much time inside, but had we needed to do so we certainly wouldn't have felt cramped at all. Thick walls ensure that the house is deliciously cool inside, even when the temperature outside is 40c in the shade! The large kitchen has everything you need for any culinary eventuality. A bbq is provided, along with garden furniture, alfresco cooking and dining. The bedroom windows all had fly screens so that windows could be left open in the evenings. It was lovely to have no TV for two weeks. Internet access meant that we weren't totally cut off from the outside world and that the children could watch a movie if they wanted to during the hottest part of the day. We particularly enjoyed the piles of books left in every room - lovely to have a diverse range of reading matter to choose from, we left a few of our own behind for the next visitors to enjoy.
The local area has lots to do and see (wine tasting is a must!), we enjoyed early morning runs to see the sunrise as well as trips to local markets and the many Bastide towns in the area. But for a lot of the time we were lazy, and just soaked up the relaxing atmosphere.
It is the first holiday rental that I have been to where the thought of not returning is unthinkable! We will definitely be back again.

We stayed for a week mid July with 3 teenagers - the living room is a large with high old oak roof void - quite baronial - and was a great place for family time. Very glad to have no tv or games consoles (the internet was fine). Spacious. Nice pool. Lovely views of Sassignac and it's (former) chateau. You don't need to drive much once you arrive - walk to Sassignac. Shop in Gardonne is 5-10 minutes away and is quite comprehensive.
