“Rustic Heaven”

We arrived at Bergerac airport during the heatwave at the beginning of July. The flight was good and hiring the car was easy.
After a short drive we arrived at Les Trois Maisons to be greeted by Tim, Sarah and Minny, the dog. Our gite was part of a converted barn, amazing and lovingly restored with two bedrooms, one on the ground floor and the other on the mezzanine. Each bedroom had its own ensuite which was really appreciated. Our immediate reaction was 'fantastic'. The appartment contained everything that was needed for a blissful week in the beautiful surrounding countryside of the Dordogne. A large kitchen with all cooking facilities and amenities was provided. As the weather was hot, and after visiting local markets, we couldn't resist spending time in the swimming pool, or sitting under the shade of the catalpa tree with a book.
When we arrived Tim and Sarah had left us a bottle of local wine with Tim's own honey and eggs to buy, laid by the hens that wander round the gardens. There are two horses and a friendly donkey that likes a pat, as well as a cockerel that 'sings' in the morning. What else would you expect in the countryside?? Minny, the dog, was always waiting to greet us when we arrived back from a trip.
As it was a heatwave, a fan would have been of great benefit in the upper bedroom.
Extremely well done to Tim and Sarah for the immense restoration and providing a truly bit of rustic Heaven.

“Ideal location for exploring, great for kids”

We've stayed at Trois Maisons for a few years now and keep coming back! The location is perfect, just far enough away from town but close enough to cycle or drive in should you need provisions. Lots to do in the area like kayaking and swimming plus all the tourist attractions are not far away either.
Very welcoming hosts and the children love seeing all the animals when they come. Highly recommend as a location for relaxing holiday if you enjoy fresh air, good food and wine.

“Superb, friendly and quiet rural gite - English owners on site friendly and helpful”
Reviewed 20 July 2014 for a stay in April 2013

We stayed in Summer 2012 and again at Easter 2013 - we went back because it was so good the first time around. Anyone looking for a quiet rural location, within reach of facilities (local shops 5 mins, supermarkets 20 mins, major tourist attractions about an hour) should consider this gite and its 1-bedroom 'sisters'.

The gites are clean and well equipped. Owners will give you lots of tips and will share a bottle or two with you and can tell a story ! - they will equally leave you alone if you want. A fantastic place to come back to at the end of a day's sightseeing to chillax. Well suited for all ages.

We have no qualms about recommending this gite.

“We've been back 7 years on the trot - that says it all”
Reviewed 18 July 2014 for a stay in August 2013

Perfect for families, really amazing hosts, peaceful and relaxing.

Our first stay was quite by accident. We had holiday booked to move house and the sale fell through so we looked for a cancellation and found Trois Maisons. Tim & Sarah have created a rustic retreat but the key thing for us is the effect on the children. With no television suddenly they had to occupy themselves with games and swimming, building camps and generally making use of the many acres. It is safe, there are animals, Sarah is great at getting them to help with chores. They have now graduated to driving the quad bike and mucking out - at home I can't get them to tidy their rooms!

Tim & Sarah grow vegetables and you cant beat their fresh picked produce inc honey which they sell on site.

The gites are rural but Perigueux and Bergerac are only 20 mins away. There are some great lakes with beaches if you want a change of scenery. We have never been bored.

This year we did contemplate looking at a different location but our kids were mortified "what will Tim & Sarah do if we don't go an see them" and "Mini (the dog) will miss us"

Please book here you wont be disappointed. We first came when the kids were 5 and 3, it was perfect then and at 12 and 10 well they still want to go back so that really says it all.
