We have stayed twice at Les Sommieres - in 2012 and again this year with two teenage girls who spend most of the day poolside. The pool is glorious - heated so even on a cloudy day you can stay in for hours. If a change of scene is needed, the Dordogne is onthe doorstep. Throw open the shutters in the morning to the sun on the river and two swans on the far bank. Lovely evening walks along the river before supper which we ate outdoors watching the river flow by; in the day canoeing from the village and bathing from any number of spots nearby. Lovely and quiet but plenty of nearby market towns and sights. Jenny and Peter are next door if you need them and could not be kinder - they think of everything (give you a great starter pack) and nothing is too much trouble. Their sweet dog Hooli added to the general joy.

We had a really relaxing stay. The house is charming with beautiful views over the river, a nice big garden at the back (perfect for kids to play) and a fantastic swimming pool to use next door. The owners are lovely - friendly and helpful (they borrowed toys for our children to play with and gave us great restaurant and vineyard recommendations!). Lots of pretty villages and towns nearby and great markets - the area is a foodie's heaven. We will definitely be back!
