“original rustic charm”

Firstly A warm thank you to our host Antonia and her family for a warm welcome and heartfelt enthusiasm for wanting to do anything to make our trip a memorable one. Having a friendly first point of contact is for me the key to any holiday and as with all of the other reviews we were not disappointed. The Housemartin is a warm and inviting old lady of a property tucked into one of the most enchanting and picturesque parts of France. It is not a new build dressed up as a charming french country house, it is the real thing and much more. A comfortable homely retreat after a long day touring the beautiful surrounding countryside. If your looking to be waited on and have room service on tap, this is not for you. But your going to miss so much. There is no doubt that we will return one day.

“Memorable”
Reviewed 20 July 2014 for a stay in July 2014

We had a wonderful time at the Housemartin. It was a perfect gîte, spacious and airy with loads of outside space. It was perfectly located in a small village surrounded by several lakes, towns, vineyards and so much more.

Pierre and Antonia were wonderful hosts and have an amazing family, our son had so much fun playing with their kids. We only stayed seven days and it wasn’t long enough.

We had a fantastic and memorable time.

“A Dordogne Gem!”

We had the most wonderful stay at the Housemartin...so much so, we are returning this summer! The gite was just perfect for our family of 4 (who all like being in one big room on holidays). It was beautifully decorated (truly French) and well-equipped with everything we needed. The pool and garden were a huge bonus as well. We just loved the location -St Martin de Gurson is perfectly located. Lovely, relaxing and rural, yet close to St Emillion and Bordeaux. Our young children especially enjoyed Lac de Gurson (a lovely lake with beach) which is only 5 mins away, and which we visited most days/evenings. We also did a number of day trips, out to Perigeaux and the Sarlat/Domme region which we highly recommend. We were fortunate enough to be there during the neighbouring Villefranche festival, which was just wonderful - a truly French experience!

Pierre, Antonia and kids couldn't have been more friendly or helpful. Our children got on so well with theirs and we were all very sad to leave at the end of our stay. We fell in love with the Dordogne and this area in particular. Couldn't recommend it more!
