Looking out over the bustle of Bordeaux and all the activities along the river was delightful. The apartment was very comfortable and Berenice very helpful.
The problem with giving a great review for a great apartment is that whenever you want to return it is so much harder to get a booking. However I owe it to our kind and helpful host, Berenice, to acknowledge all the hard work and effort she has put into the creation of this apartment and her thoughtfulness as a host. The apartment has been recently completely re-built and is unusually spacious for a French apartment, with all the facilities you need, including air conditioning and a laundry. The terrace overlooking the river has great views when you are standing up but is nice and private when you are seated. Although the apartment is in a central location with a tram stop practically outside the door, it is still beautifully quiet at night. There are great places to eat in the area but the kitchen is also fully equipped for meals in as well. Love Bordeaux and loved our stay at this apartment.
The apartment that we rented is located in the Chartrons district of Bordeaux, with an excellent view of the Garonne River from the balcony and an equally lovely view of the Church of Saint Louis from the larger of the two bedrooms. The apartment feels huge, with a bathroom, separate toilet room, laundry room, kitchen, dining area, and living room. The kitchen is well equipped for cooking meals, and there is a supermarket and smaller specialty stores nearby. However, there are also many good places to eat along the river and behind the apartment on the Rue de Notre Dame. The owner provides a very useful booklet of information about the local shops and restaurants. Although we never had the opportunity to meet the owner, she was very helpful and answered all of our questions by email. This apartment is a wonderful place to stay; and, if we return to Bordeaux, we will certainly want to stay there again.
Berenice greeted us at the door and showed us her wonderful building of which the 3rd floor would be our apartment. we had a beautiful view of the river from the living room balcony. the apartment is very well equipped, situated, and decorated. we were able to walk everywhere. we wish we could have spent more time there.
This was our first trip to Bordeaux and after our experience staying at this apartment, we will definitely return. The owners could not have been more helpful. I was on a work deadline, and the internet had broken in the town, which was terribly stressful. However, Berenice went above and beyond and lent me her personal phone so I could use her data plan in order to finish my work. She was wonderful!!! The apartment is in the perfect location for exploring the city. We walked for miles through this gorgeous city, stopping at cafes for food (and wine!), admiring the local fruits, meats, cheese and seafood from the area, and shopping in the lovely boutiques. There is an amazing amount of beautiful, historic architecture, including this apartment. The unit is beautifully appointed with comfortable beds, a lovely kitchen (we had many meals at home), a large bathroom and there is a lift, which is a relief because I had a lot of luggage because of work. The weekly Sunday market is a must see, and it's literally across the street. There are several wonderful stores within walking distance for every taste. We had a delicious duck confit and cassoulet out of a jar (!) from a gourmet store in the neighborhood. I would highly recommend staying here and visiting Bordeaux and the neighboring wine regions. We took the train to St. Emilion for the day, which was affordable and very easy to do. You will not find a more amicable host, nor a nicer apartment, anywhere in the region.
