Lovely place though you do need a car. One bedroom plus a sofa bed in the lounge, ideal for a couple with maybe a couple of children but too small for 4 adults. Need the car to get to anywhere incl shops. Nice base if you're into walking or cycling.
Good location for vineyards and Bordeaux region. Comfortable accommodation and very friendly and helpful owners. If you travel to Bordeaux suggest you use Park and Ride.
The setting and surrounding area is lovely, however we felt that the apartment which is 3 rooms plus a very tight bathroom/WC on the lower floor of the owners house, fell short of the description.
There is a kitchen, which has a sofa in it, together with a table (no oven), a bedroom with a double bed. The other room has a fold-away bed and is the sitting room, although there is no TV. The bathroom is very tight and the lack of a privacy window can be embarrassing when the owner is out doing the gardening as happened to us! So we find it hard to agree to the description of two bedrooms, especially as you have to go through the sitting area to get to the main bedroom.
Like other reviews we found it cold in the evenings and overnight. When we told the owner this, he came and checked, it was 17C, so he provided us with 1 small electric heater, but we remained cold most evenings and overnight until the sun had been up for some time. The owner did say that he would be installing a separate thermostat for the apartment as at present there is only one for the entire building and of course hot air rises!
As others have said, overall the facilities were very basic, no oven, no TV, no radio, no clock, vinyl flooring (apart from kitchen and bathroom). There is very little privacy.
As others have said, Irene and William are a very pleasant couple who try to please, but we feel that the rental is oversold in the description.
This rental couldn't have been better for us. Irene was friendly and helpful with lots of information on the area in the apartment. The apartment was clean, well-equipped and quiet with all the necessities such as toilet paper, towels and cooking supplies. It was a short drive into Bordeaux and convenient for visiting wineries elsewhere in the region. A car is necessary since it didn't appear to have access to public transportation. The community is very quiet and not a tourist destination, although that was a significant part of its charm for us!
We had a one week stay at the Country retreat which on the whole was very pleasant. The rental is on the ground floor of a large house in its own large garden backing onto fields We were offered to take any vegetables that we wished from the vegetable patch. It is a quite spot.I did have a couple of small niggles though,we had no control over the heating and had to ask the Landlady who lives upstairs to turn it up in the evenings which meant it was either on or off with no thermostatic control. This would not be a problem in the warmer months we were there in October when there is a chill in the evenings. The other small niggle was a dripping sound at night when it rained down a rainwater pipe.A herd of small deer appeared in the garden on the last night. On the whole a pleasant enough stay.
