We stayed at Hotel Le Bouclier d’Or just this past weekend, and it was a perfect spot. We had planned to be there only one night, but enjoyed Strasbourg and the hotel so much, we stayed an extra night. The staff was quite friendly and helpful, making dinner suggestions and reservations for us.

The hotel is situated in just the right spot, in the of the heart of the old village and within walking distance of most of the important sites. Plenty of restaurants, cafes and shops nearby as well. There was a bustling flea market on Saturday, where we found plenty of treasures to bring home for a great price.

The rooms are updated, large and very comfortable. Beautifully decorated with period art-work and exquisite antique furniture. Bathrooms were modern, with one of the best walk-in showers we have experienced in Europe. And the breakfast display was a nice touch each morning, with a mixture of food for any appetite large or small.

Hotel Le Bouclier d'Or is absolutley lovely. The staff is fabulous!! From the first impression of Sophie tending to all your questions, needs, etc. during check in and from that day forward and the Cooker, Blondine is just incredible!! I have food allergies and Blondine went above and beyond in every way possible to provide me with a wonderful breakfast each morning. On our check out one of the owners came over to meet with us which was lovely. Everyone was so friendly and so helpful. We didn't want to leave!! Our room was beautiful. Spacious, extremely comfortable, excellent bathroom and shower. From first walking through the doors until checking out every part of the experience was beyond what I hoped for. We will definitely be back!!

This property is the best place I have ever stayed. Historical and beautiful. We loved the hamman.....incredibly relaxing. The breakfast was plentiful and delicious served in a gorgeous room. We stayed in a Bourgeois suite and I wish we could move in forever! The sheets were so amazing we bought a set! The room was gorgeous. Had an amazing bathroom with a spa tub, spa shower, and fancy Japanese toilet. From the front door you can explore Strasbourg easily. We can't wait to go back..

We stayed here for our 25th wedding anniversary in March and booked the Prestige Suite. It was spacious, well appointed and had two large, modern bathrooms. The staff was incredibly accommodating and the location could not have been better, an easy walk to all the sights. Breakfast was also excellent with different cheeses, meats and breads to choose from. The only negative was that the bed was a little too firm. Aside from that, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

We happened on this gem of a hotel last minute on a road trip, splurged for a little bit extra nice of a room (although the standard room looked excellent too). The rooms are gorgeous -- in an old mansion (or palace?) and the rooms are modern (completely renovated) but historically and beautifully furnished. We had a view (glimpse) of the cathedral spires. Close to everything. Amazing customer service, and literally, the best breakfast on a three-week road trip (although a little pricey). Blondie, one of the staff, went out of her way to be helpful to us and gave us great advice for other places to visit in Alsace later in our trip. They even have parking (for a fee, of course), which if you have ever been to Strasbourg, is a miracle. We didn't have a chance to use the spa services or have a drink in the elegant and inviting lounge or courtyard. If we ever are in Strasbourg again, we will definitely stay here. Plus, there was awesome air conditioning (not always a given in Alsace) and a bathroom as big as a NYC studio apartment and a shower that is a whole room! While not inexpensive, it is not super expensive, and it certainly offers excellent services/amenities etc. for the price.

Room Tip: Each room seems unique, so if they have rooms available, take a look first.
