We are staying in Colmar for a short visit and stopped in the Bartholdi Museum. What a nice surprise. We knew of him as a sculptor, but no idea he was a multi medium artist. Very informative.
The museum is his family homestead, quite lavish in it's day and well preserved. Definitely worth a visit!

This small museum is on three floors of the actual home that Auguste Bartholdi grew up in. It is filled with he sketches, clay models of his great works, and informative historical background. With the cost of admission you get a 19 page handout of facts in English (or your preferred language). Very good!

Often overlook led them s wonderfully laid out museum is a delight. The exhibits are vibrant and easily understood. Of the creator of the Arie of liberty among many projects. Set in a light very building in the museum settings of the city. Easily reached and has many dining choices nearby. A must see for sure

We enjoyed the work of the man that created the Statue of Liberty. We had no idea Colmar was the home to Bartholdi or of his significance to American history. He was an incredible artist in large format sculptures.

We had a great time here. I did not know that sculptors made models before starting a piece. We saw the many models Bartholdi did before deciding on the final one for the Statue of Liberty. Also saw other statues he was famous for.
