Stayed for one night over the weekend.Excellent location in the centre.Very elegant and very well kept.Staff were very welcoming on arrival.King size room was very nice and big.Comfy beds and the bathroom was fully tiled and spotless.Had the breakfast which was lovely and a very good choice on offer.Got a very good deal on the room as well.Will be coming back again.

A group of us went to the Midland for a champagne afternoon tea as part of a 50th birthday celebration and it was a little disappointing. The service was very slow and we had to keep asking the waiting staff to bring tea, milk etc. We were a party of about 12 and half the table would receive their food and then about 10 minutes later the other half!. The actual food served at the afternoon tea was lovely but the poor service really let everything down. It was a Saturday afternoon and the Octagon area was busy so perhaps this was the cause of the poor service.

Thank you for taking the time to review our Afternoon Tea service and in opening I'm probably more disappointed than yourself as normally we manage to get everything 'spot on' for all of our guests and in failing to do so I must apologise.

We will know when we have a busy day ahead so that won't be provided as an excuse save to say that I have already spoken with the team to ensure that we get every detail right for every guest and to understand why we fell below our usual standards on that day.

We booked in for a week and stayed for 9, and would of gladly stayed another 9.
Steeped in history and grandeur, this is Manchester's finest, there is a true feeling of elegance.
If you have the chance ask for room 317 king size executive great room almost a suite and a great view.
Great location, pool,gym,sauna and an award winning restaurant.
I would like to thank Neil Butler and his team, and all the staff especially the concierge team with the valet parking, for making this such an enjoyable stay.

Bank holiday booking 26 august

i booked this hotel for my bithday as i wished to enjoy a nice meal and a night away.
I have stayed at several hotels in Manchester which have been great but wanted to try the Midland.
Check in very good thanks Bernadetta
Room lovely very comfortable bed and a good nights sleep
Breakfast was hot and tastey we arrived at the busy period but no issue, table ready and all staff very good
Overall this was a very good experience and i will return as the staff were fantastic
did i mention the food in the Wyvern very nice staff again. Will come back again just for the meal.

Bank holiday weekend, 2 nights. We booked the day before, via a central booking office and got quite a good deal. Was really looking forward to it as the hotel has a good reputation and location. Check in was fab and our early arrival no problem for the lovely staff. Room service, concierge and Reception staff were excellent. Room was good, lovely big, comfy bed, nice clean bathroom. A voile/net curtain might be a good idea for privacy from the hotel opposite. Breakfast the following day was of adequate quality. Service was slow even though we had purposely gone early because of the warning signs in Reception about peak times. I think basically, there were not enough staff as they all seemed to be working hard. However, I was horrified to see one waiter bringing in clean glasses for the fruit juice straight from the dishwasher - using the dishwasher racking to carry them! Twice, whilst we were sat there. Whatever happened to trays? Then, another waiter came in topping up the bread to be toasted using a mushroom container, the blue kind you would see on a market stall ! I couldn`t believe it. I was half expecting them to start clearing the tables with a black bin bag next! Not really 4 star standard? Afternoon tea was no better service either. Food was lovely, but we had to ask 3 different members of staff for milk, not even a top up - the first jug! We also had to wait ages for the bill, then ages again for the card machine to be brought over. There were enough staff in the restaurant, they were very pleasant, but they lacked direction and training. Overall not as special an occasion as I had hoped.

Room tip: Ignore the price comparison sites and look at deals on hotel websites
